Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are the only Sherlock and Watson for me.

I would like to see Sherlock Holmes 3.

I was surprised how much I liked the first one.
Very well written and performed.
Downey made Sherlock his own in very crowded race of contenders.
Wish Hot Toys would offer the duo.

I can't stand these movies. Jude Law isn't all that bad but RDJ is just playing himself with an English accent. They need to to be on the same level as the Sherlock show
Sanderman
Sanderman - 9/17/2012, 1:31 PM
@taydee are we watching the same movie? if anything sherlock is the only movie where RDJ plays the complete opposite character that he does in other movies

Of course we need another Sherlock Holmes. Dr. Watson thinks he is dead. They can't leave the series like that.

Im with the majority of you guys, I say bring it on...the two movies were great. I loved the ending the the last one.

These movies are a lot of fun, so I'm totally OK with another film. And what DefenderOfTheFaith said, Game Of Shadows had quite the cliffhanger ending.

For the third film I was thinking of having Arsene Lupin or Fantomas be the antagonist for the third film. Lupin is basically as popular as Holmes in France and they were created around the same time. However Lupin is more of a gentleman thief and won't kill, so I was thinking that Lupin is framed by Fantomas and he has to work together with Holmes to catch a common threat. Just an idea since he already faced Moriarty. Lupin and Holmes could have an intellectual rivalry going on as they differ on how best to catch Fantomas, The World's Greatest Detective teams up with the World's Greatest Thief. Jean Dujardin would be my pick for Lupin and maybe Vincent Cassel as Fantomas.

And call it Sherlock Holmes: Lord of Terror

Sanderman - The only thing that differentiates the two is when he's analyzing the crime scene and the slo-mo fight scenes. Other than that, it feels like I'm just watching RDJ in a different era

[frick] YEAH!! I want to see it.

It should be largely set in America this time.

I've seen Game of Shadows probably 12-13 times. Never get tired of that movie.

The slow-mo running through the woods while trees were blowing up scene was so amazing... score and all.

The only thing I don't like about this film series is the mystery. It sucks.

The rest is pretty good.

I'd like to see a third. However, I do think it was a mistake to kill off Moriarty so soon in the franchise. Assuming of course that he didn't survive the fall as Sherlock did.

1st 1 was cool, 2nd was dead as shit; just no fun, pretentious, long winded n boring... It actually put me off this duo of Holmes n Watson...

The second one suffered from the over extended slo mo scenes. Other than that I loved em both. I think I almost like these movies for the villains more though.

Well, can't wait. I thought both movies were awesome (enjoyed them a lot!), although I have to agree with @beane2099. The second one did suffer from the extended slo-mo scenes. Thought it was unnecesary, really. But besides that, I enjoyed 'em. :)

An amazing actor, Robert Downey Jr. :)

slow mo didnt bother me, but more dteective work dammit!the second one was action adventure not mystery
dancingmonkey08
dancingmonkey08 - 9/17/2012, 4:16 PM
loved the two movies, cant wait for a third one

Colonel Moran has to be the villain, its the only route, now that the criminal mastermind Moriarty is gone, his servant is the perfect replacement. He may not be the intellectual equal to Holmes, but he is the most dangerous man alive now

I hope Robert does at least one more Sherlock Holmes, two more Avengers and an Iron Man 4, after 3, then he can retire

I'm just waiting for that one specific user, the one who absolutely LOVES Micheal Bay's Transformers series, to come along and say how crap this movie is for being "another generic action" movie. :)

I'd rather see another one of this made rather than those other franchises that should stop making sequels. RDJ and Jude Law are just fun to watch.
Jolt17
Jolt17 - 9/18/2012, 1:29 AM
I can go on and on about how the movies are not that loyal to the books, but I'd also be lying if I said I didn't enjoy 'em! Moreover, the ending of Sherlock Holmes: a Game of Shadows directly allows the third movie to closely adapt The Adventure of the Empty House (Moran still on the run, Holmes turns out to be alive, et cetera), so I'm going to say I'm looking forward to this.
Jolt17
Jolt17 - 9/18/2012, 1:39 AM
The main problem of the first two movies as an adaptation is that they tried to be a lot bigger in scale...which worked, actually, but that also ultimately transformed the movies to be more action-adventure than mystery, yes.

That pretty much sums up my main complaint toward the franchise, although as an action movie franchise that is loosely based on my favorite classic tales, I can still accept and enjoy it alright.

However, with my previous statement, I think the chance for the third movie to delve deeper into the mystery aspect is wide open - I'm not getting my hopes way too high, though, but...here's hoping.
