We know that Ant-Man 3 is currently undergoing a rewrite, but Ant-Man and The Wasp star Michael Douglas has now revealed that we could get news on that threequel sooner than we probably expected...

Ant-Man and Ant-Man and The Wasp director Peyton Reed has been tapped to direct Ant-Man 3, while we recently heard that Paul Rudd has taken a crack at the movie's screenplay (with a draft that may or may not include M.O.D.O.K.). Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we probably won't have too much longer to wait before seeing the threequel, and now Michael Douglas has provided an update.

During a recent Q&A on Instagram, the legendary Hank Pym actor confirmed that there's not much he can say about Ant-Man 3, but did drop some hints that we could get a big update in the coming weeks.

"I can't talk about it," he whispers in the video below. "Because the Marvel guys, they'll shoot me with a blowgun. But I think you got to hang tight because there might be some information coming out pretty soon."

It's hard to say what he could be hinting at, though a release date reveal is possible (and speculation continues to run rampant that Ant-Man 3 will end up on Disney+).

Something tells me we won't be seeing a lot of announcement of Marvel movies at all. As far as I know we already know what we're getting until 2022, and Ant-Man 3 ain't on the list (even though Douglas and Pena said production was gonna start next year)

Because Michael Douglas said filming for Ant-Man 3 was supposed to start in January 2021, I always thought Ant-Man 3 was going to be the Feb 2022 film. Until Marvel pushed Thor 4 into that spot. Then I thought Ant-Man 3 is the July 2021 film -but Captain Marvel 2 took that spot. Now, I think Ant-Man 3 has been pushed a full year to the Feb 2023 spot. I don't see Disney+ as a viable option unless Disney believes Ant-Man 3 will draw more customers to the service that will make the film more profitable then releasing it as a feature in theaters. But I admit, in this current climate anything is possible.

On another note, I know some folks still think Marvel Studios has an Oct 2022 release date but I don't even consider it now. If Doctor Strange 2 was pushed to accommodate Sony's Spider-Man 3, why can't Sony have pushed whatever the unknown Marvel film was for that date for 'Into the Spider-Verse 2'? I don't believe there are going to be 5 Marvel Studio films in 2022. Disney added a new 2022 date with Doctor Strange 2, why would they do that if October 2022 was still on the slate for Marvel?

Regarding when we might get any official news from Marvel Studios. I think sometime this summer around when SDCC does their 'Comic-Con at Home' event. I think Marvel Studios will have a video package there that can be repackaged onto Disney+ like the 'Expanding the Universe' special already on the streaming service. Kevin Feige doing a presentation for future films & Disney+ shows, concept art, directors & actors talking about their projects. And I think there will be some news to come out of it to excite fans for the future. And its possible that Michael Douglas has or will participate in a possible video package for Marvel Studios. Marvel Studios always announces something new at SDCC -so why would it be any different this year despite COVID-19. We could get an Ant-Man 3 announcement (the next film after Captain Marvel 2) or the possible villain for Black Panther 2 or who Christian Bale is playing in Thor 4. There's a lot of news Kevin Feige has been sitting on and I think he's just as anxious to release that info as much as fans need to hear it.

Ant-Man and the Wasp was a big improvement over the first one imo, and it has one of the best Stan Lee cameos

So wait, this thing is still in preproduction (specifically writing) and this guy thinks we wont wait long to see it? Especially since theres gonna be a lot of project delays thatll push this back.

I hate it when Hollywood is like "Oh this is a summer movie". Does it really matter? Because I'm in the southern hemisphere and your'summer' movie is our 'winter' movie yet we still go and see it. Anyway, looking forward to it! I hope Hank becomes The Black Ant.
