Ant-Man and The Wasp is a superhero movie like no other, especially as we've never seen a comic book adaptation with leads who are able to shrink the way Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne do! Now, in a rather fitting movie, Rotten Tomatoes has revealed that its awarded one of its patented "Certifed Fresh" trophy to the Marvel Studios sequel but this one is a whole lot smaller than past versions. 

As you can see from the photo below, Ant-Man and The Wasp's 88% "Fresh" rating resulted in the movie getting a trophy which is not only smaller than an action figure but also not that much bigger than a Pez dispenser (which is obviously a nod to one of the sequel's best action sequences). 

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has achieved a great deal of success through Rotten Tomatoes over the years with Ant-Man and The Wasp the latest in a long line of movies to be "Certified Fresh." What did you think of the Peyton Reed helmed release? Be sure to let us know your thoughts down below.

It wasn't worth the wait for me (had to wait til mid-August to see it).
Hopefully it will be different with MI Fallout....still a week to go. :3

Definitely the weakest MCU entry, IMO. Sure, Thor 2 and IM2 are more maligned, but I at least remember them and can rewatch them anytime. All I remember from AMaTW is the stupid suitcase. Boring movie. Utterly forgettable. But that end credit sequence tho...

@killadeathray - I'm seriously caught off guard by how many people on here like thor 2 and IM2 more

I think I only remember IM2 elements because back when it came out and hit DVD, I only had 3 entries in the MCU to compulsively rewatch.

Idk. I wouldn't argue that this is like a can't miss entry in the MCU, but I'd put it ahead of those.

We're also at a point where I'll accept that people have different tastes though because there's so many movies and so many different ones that I think we need to start talking about them differently than we did for years when we barely even had 10.

@ftf530 - I definitely feel where you’re coming from there, and I think you nailed it. There was a level of repeatability to those movies being that the MCU wasn’t so huge as it is now. I admit, they’re not some of Marvel’s best, but still enjoyable for me.

I probably need to rewatch this to allow my appreciation to grow. It’s not a BAD movie, just felt like a bit of a letdown post-IW. But then again, most movies pale in comparison to that.

@killadeathray - aw thank you, I appreciate knowing other people's opinions on here - felt like prior to now today had just been people trying to argue with me haha

I can totally see why a movie like AMnW isn't for everyone, but the way people speak in absolutes about it throws me off.

Also you're right, nothing was gonna feel solid following up infinity war.

I'm also biased because any excuse to let Paul Rudd do his (relative to today's comic leads, very positive) leading man comedy, is a good excuse to me. I feel like his Scott Lang isn't far off from his Parks character personality wise, and I'm 100% okay with that.

@killadeathray - TiH and Thor, I loved those back then - now I'm not as into them.

TiH because the different Banner pulls me out now when it didn't then, Thor just because it's problems didn't glare at me as much then as they did now - and back then, I was so excited to see more Coulson and tell people about Hawkeye so I couldn't have cared less haha

Movie was good. Entertaining and fun enough. Infinity War was a hard act to follow, and while AM&W isnt my favorite MCU film. It is still a solid entry that progresses the story. I feel like alot of people expected something else, but not sure what.

@ftf530 - I dont get it, I can understand thinking its not the TOP TIER MCU, but I thought it did its job and was still a solid entry and is catching alot of flack. Ragnarok though is one of Marvel's best films, so that one I dont get at all. Some people just dont like fun? But what do I know, I think Iron Man 2 is perfectly fine.

@TH29 - I think in terms of allowing someone's specific creativity to just go wild that it's definitely one of the best films -

While I'm in love with it and Taika, I also totally get why people wouldn't find it their taste, but saying it's bad because it's not your taste isn't a concept I agree with.

My go to example is Man of Steel - I hate it, but I wouldn't call something with a 55% on RT as objectively bad.

No judgement for you on IM2. I enjoy TiH, and I think what a lot of people around here still haven't processed is that 20 movies in, it's gonna start coming down to personal preferences (especially when the movies continue to be, at their worst, really fun one time watches).

I have this whole long rant about the subjective quality of art being measured within our objective reality, specifically in relation to a ratings system like RT, but the last time I explained it people went off at me haha

I think that RT scores can be used to show the various different levels of subjectivity in art within an objective reality.

80-100: unarguably good, even if you don't like it via personal tastes. (I hate Mad Men but it's one of the best shows of all time, and I don't think my tastes are bad)

80-60: Good, but can easily be argued over flaws - but it's a preference thing if you don't like it.

40-60: flawed but based on personal tastes, which is nothing to judge someone for.

30-0 is where people got mad at me:

I think anything critically panned below 30% is objectively bad. In the way Mad Men is critically loved (even with my feelings on it), I think it's an objectively good show, and that movies this critically panned are equally objectively bad, and these objective statements based on the aggregation of subjective opinions being overwhelmingly in agreement.

....I have too much free time at work...

I finally saw it last week and it was the definition of “meh”. It wasn’t as good as the first and while I like Wasp finally being included I didn’t care about the story, the twists were all predictable and the lack of the heist feeling of the first one just made it bland to me. Some of the jokes were great but ultimately it seemed unnecessary especially after Infinity War

I liked it and it does deserve the fresh stamp. I wonder if there even is a rotten mcu movie (too bored to look it up)

The Incredible Hulk and Dark World weren't "certified fresh", but they were still "fresh".

There's only two that aren't fresh

But also

They didn't add the certified fresh part until we were like 5 years into the MCU at the earliest (I don't remember seeing the fresh certifications until like 2015, but followed RT for maybe 3 prior)

I really enjoyed the film. I think suffered from a poor villain/no villain. Effects were incredible. Plot was decent. Acting was good.

@Gmoney84 - I think in the long run, the lack of a super powered villain is going to be what makes this stand out from the plethora of MCU movies - that and how it's more content to let Paul Rudd do Paul Rudd hanging out at home stuff.

If only he was getting stoned during his probation, he wouldn't have even been acting haha

I quite enjoyed the movie. Pity it didn't perform a little better at the BO, but that's still complaining on a high level. It's past $200m domestically, and if it doesn't significantly underperform in China it'll pass the first movie worldwide as well.

And while the actual numbers seem rather low compared to the overall insanely strong MCU BO results of the last years... it's still [frick]ing Ant-Man. And a little comparison just for the fun of it - among the non-Deadpool X-movies a potential $550 million end result would make Ant-Man and the Wasp one of the Top 3 highest grossing movies.

All geared up to like this movie. Too juvenile. Probably loved by kids in grade school.

Give me an Ant Man movie like Winter Soldier. Now THAT would rock!

@76cidgrad - I'll be honest with you, that would REALLY get people to go... "meh." I saw it immediately as a sketch.

Scott discovers the FBI was secretly Hydra all along...

Scott: Ah, well, I never trusted any of you anyway.
Hope: It'd hold more thematic weight if you had ever been the type of person to selflessly give yourself to the government for a national cause.
Scott: Nah, why would I do that? The government hates me and the only thing that matters to me is that my friends and family are safe.

Hank discovers that Janet has been brainwashed and used for decades as a covert assassin:
Hank: Scott, Janet, I just need you to capture Janet for me. I can build tech that travels the multiverse, I think I can un-brainwash the love of my life with a little bit of exposition and a funny prop I can fix her brain.
Scott: Okay cool. So we'll be done in time for dinner?

This movie did not blow my socks off but was worth the trip to the movie theatre. Many entertaining things in this movie like the action scenes and the quantum realm.

Yes we did, it was called ant-man. Also happened in civil war. The shrinking and growing definitely wasn’t novel enough to get me to see it.
