Following the recent rumor that Matt Reeves' The Batman - Part II will introduce a new take on the Caped Crusader's original sidekick, Dick Grayson/Robin, we have an interesting update on the direction Matt Reeves and co. are supposedly taking the character.

According to insider MTTSH, Robin will only be 13-years-old in the upcoming sequel.

Of course, the "Boy Wonder" was only a kid when he debuted in the comics back in the '40s, and has been depicted as a teenager in other, more recent runs. But there's always been some controversy stemming from Batman enlisting a child as his crime-fighting partner, so if this rumor proves to be on the level, it would be a somewhat surprising that Reeves didn't go with a slightly older version of Robin.

Then again, Reeves utilizing Robin at all could be seen as something of an unusual movie, since Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne wasn't supposed to have been operating as Batman for very long in the first film. Of course, there could be a significant time jump before the events of the sequel.

There has only been one previous big-screen incarnation of Grayson, Chris O'Donnell in Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, but the character has appeared in numerous animated projects, as well as the likes of Titans and the classic '60s Batman TV series.

When the new DCU slate was announced, James Gunn confirmed that Reeves' "BatVerse" will remain separate from the DCU, so this movie, along with Todd Phillips' Joker sequel, will be considered "Elseworlds" tales. A new actor will down the cape and cowl for Batman: The Brave and the Bold, which will also feature a different take on Robin - The Caped Crusader's son, Damian Wayne.

Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell are all expected to reprise their respective roles, and we may also see the return of Barry Keoghan's Joker, who made his sinister debut in the first movie's mid-credits scene.

Specific plot details are still under wraps, but we know the Max Penguin spin-off series will set up the story. Clayface is also rumored to be involved in some capacity. As far as official info goes, Reeves has stated that his sequel will continue this "epic crime saga," but that's about all we have to go on.

If Robin is in this movie (and the age seems apropiate, and he should be played by a teenage actor), they should scrap Brave & The Bold.

@TheHumanSpider2 - Gunn’s Batman movie is never being made

@PlusUltra - It's not Gunn's champ.

@TheHumanSpider2 - they won’t cause B&B is more bat family than just Batman and Robin

@ShimmyShimmyYA - Having two Batmen co-existing is already a mistake, having two Robins, who are not even the same character, is plain dumb.

@PlusUltra - At this point, I think he is leaving Warner after Superman Legacy...if that movie even happens.
A few days ago, Gunn said on Twitter there is not even a script for Brave and The Bold...what was even the point of announcing it?

@TheHumanSpider2 - The writers strike happened soon after the announcement fool, no writers are writing scripts.

Try to read what people write.

@TheHumanSpider2 - You are one of the dumbest people on this website, and that says something.

Announcing slates before a script is started or complete is not new. Quit acting like this isn't normal and it means that it's a problem. The strike happened, everything stopped.

Try to think about what you write.

@TheHumanSpider2 - I'm telling you, they shouldv3 used The Batman as the starting point for the new DCEU. Only thing that's not got me 100% sold is Gunn's love for a more "Man who Laughs" take on the Joker.

@TheRationalNerd - I think they considered the idea at some point (I still remember the BTS pics with kids dressed up as Superman and Wonder Woman), but Matt Reeves was against it.

Yeah makes sense, this Batman isn’t even 30 yet, Robin is the boy wonder
TheHumanSpider2
TheHumanSpider2 - 9/3/2023, 1:23 PM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - He is 32 in the first movie, though, and Dick is suppoused to be a kid...plus, wasnt Dick 17 in Batman Forever?
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 9/3/2023, 1:31 PM
@TheHumanSpider2 - oh shit definitely thought it was younger , just looked and officially they said around 30 so they 27-30 to give room
TheHumanSpider2
TheHumanSpider2 - 9/3/2023, 1:34 PM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - He looks and acts younger, but if they are respecting the source material, Bruce was 12 when his parents were murdered, and the movie takes place 20 years after that.
Maybe his parents were murdered when he was younger, though.
TheHumanSpider2
TheHumanSpider2 - 9/3/2023, 1:42 PM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - And now that I think about it, it would be cool if Bruce and Dick were the same age when they lost their parents...whatever the case, Dick should be a kid, played by a kid.
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 9/3/2023, 2:24 PM
@TheHumanSpider2 - yeah but then that’s more of a hardy boys dynamic

Is Reeves sure he doesn't want to start his Universe off with an older, already dead Robin for no reason?
ShimmyShimmyYA

@Amaru - he should also timeskip to Battinson being borderline ready to retire

Reeves going full on Hit Girl
Forthas

I have a feeling he won't fight crime in this film. It will be like an introductory cameo that sets him up for a future role when he is older, kind of like what they did with Penguin. Otherwise this might be a mistep!
Th3Batman
Th3Batman - 9/3/2023, 1:12 PM
@Forthas - That's exactly what I think will happen. The Batman III will be set 5 or so years after II with an 18 year old Robin.
