More photos from the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have found their way online, this time revealing a fresh look at Martin Freeman's Everett Ross - though he's bordering on being unrecognisable!

We first met Martin Freeman's Everett Ross in Captain America: Civil War, while he'd later be established as a close ally of T'Challa's in Black Panther. The character is set to return in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and some set photos (via Just Jared) reveal his startling new appearance.

As you can see, Freeman has been made to look a little older since the last time we saw him, but there's likely a good reason for that. Assuming he wasn't among those snapped out of existence by Thanos during the events of Avengers: Endgame, Ross is at least five years older than those who were!

Beyond that, these photos really don't reveal much, though it's safe to assume Ross will remain a loyal ally to Wakanda, especially in what we're assuming will be the wake of T'Challa's death.

Marvel Studios has yet to reveal how Black Panther will be written out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman after a lengthy battle with cancer. It has, however, been confirmed that the character won't be brought back with VFX or another actor.

Instead, Shuri remains the most likely choice to suit up as the MCU's new Black Panther, picking up where her brother left off. Check out these new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever set photos below:

One of these days they should do a Black Panther/Doctor Strange crossover

why did they drop the ball that last season

@dracula - Behind the scenes gossip buuuuuut if the rumors are to be believed, it is very unlikely you'd see Freeman and Cumberbatch together again given that it's "well known" they basically couldn't stand each other on Sherlock.

@InfinitePunches - I know that's a troll question but obviously because cultural appropriation is bad.
The character is an African superhero that is supposed to inspire people of color and of African nationality.

Why does Netflix recast so many white roles with black actors? Because they seem to have higher numbers when poc are in their shows. Yes, some (a lot) of recasts are dumb and historically inaccurate. But there's nothing we can do and an 'eye for an eye' strategy with forcing white recasts of black characters isn't the way to go

@Blergh - Just throwing this out there, an albino (but still african) black panther could actually be interesting. Doubt it would ever happen, but it could be interesting.

Although, how about actually giving Bucky a white wolf costume, doesn't have to look like a black panther suit, but actually give him something, nothing about him says white wolf

@InfinitePunches - You've had Tarzan all these years to fill the White Man in Africa kicking ass trope where no native born Black African ever could. So give it a rest.

@Mugens - Yeah, Tarzan was more than enough. (And also the Phantom and Sheena.)

Now, I need to go back to trying to find my ass with both hands.

@Mugens - Exactly. When one race has always had representation in one form or another, it's understandable that some would not be able to relate to other races having felt/feeling a certain way. I don't think an albino BP is quite as interesting as you think @dracula.

I don’t know the character comic history, but is he any relation to Gen. Ross

Freeman is hilarious, but I feel like his MCU character is so forced. I don't know if there is a more suitable role from the comics, but I think his talent is wasted and they shoehorn him into basically throwaway scenes just so Freemen can flex his comedy chops for the camera. It seems like most of his scenes are walking and talking in elevators and hallways. Owen Wilson got much better hallway and elevator dialogue as Mobius.

@bs77 - yeah, he's kinda pointless. The character really only serves to guide an unfamiliar audience as far as I know him from the comics

I suppose it’s inevitable that Shuri gets the suit, but, as of the end of Black Panther, Nakia still seems the best choice. (Plus from a business perspective Lupita is a bigger star + less of a controversy risk given some of Wright’s vaccine comments). Let Nakia be the warrior while Shuri is the ruler. Sort of like a Hand to the Queen. And it would be cool to see a protagonist reject the “warrior makeover” trope for once.
