A new report claims that Tom Holland's Spider-Man may not make an appearance in Daredevil: Born Again but rather, be brought up in a different way.

The wait for Marvel Studio's Daredevil: Born Again will be exciting. Most of the previous actor's from the Netflix Daredevil TV series are set to reprise their role's in the rebooted series, and it will be Marvel Studio's longest first-season of a Disney+ TV series, set to be 18 episodes!

Diverting from the usual "world/multiversal-ending stakes" that most Marvel projects deal with contemporarily, Born Again, like its Netflix predecessor, will lessen those stakes, as we will follow Matt Murdock's pursuit at taking down the Kingpin from running/winning his mayoral campaign, and enacting his anti-vigilante decree in New York.

A new rumor has surfaced claiming that another infamous street-level vigilante will be making an appearance in the series and Tom Holland's Spider-Man will NOT show up at anytime throughout the season.

Many were of course excited to not only witness Spider-Man and Daredevil partner up in the series, but additonally to finally bring to life the classic Kingpin and Spider-Man rivalry from the comic books.

If the rumor is true, however, Kingpin might allude to Spider-Man being one of the vigilante's he plans on taking down in the wake of passing his anti-vigilante decree, much like how he plans on taking down Daredevil.

At the very least, Kingpin may have heard about Spider-Man, or has potentially even went toe-to-toe with the webhead at some point off-screen.

Do you think Spider-Man will end up potentially making an appearance in Daredevil: Born Again?

Daredevil: Born Again currently has no official release date, but is scheduled to release on Disney+ sometime in Spring of 2024.

Daredevil: Born Again is an upcoming American television series created by Matt Corman and Chris Ord for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics character Daredevil. It is intended to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise, and will be the second series centered on the character following Daredevil (2015–2018) by Marvel Television. Corman and Ord serve as head writers of the series with Michael Cuesta as one of its directors. The series is also produced by 20th Television.

Charlie Cox reprises his role as Matt Murdock / Daredevil from Marvel's Netflix television series and prior Marvel Studios productions, with Vincent D'Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, and Sandrine Holt also starring.

@DrReedRichards - what are you all doing here then?

Do you expect the website to just close while the strikes are happening?

It's not this website in particular. I love this site♥️🖖💪

It's the industry of scoopers as a whole.

It's just guessing. Literally guessing 😐

My commenting history is available. Point to the last time I whined at Josh, Nate, Mark, Rohan, or any contributor for their reporting.

Take it from someone who gives a shit for this place, this is a new low.

@DrReedRichards @AmazingFILMporg - That’s what Josh loves about posting rumors. There’s at least two stories in it for him. First, there’s a rumor story and secondly, there is the rumor debunking story.

@RolandD -

Normally I would agree with you, but ever since the strike I understand the need for any news to report.

That's why I personally place the blame less on the writers here and more on those idiot users of Twitter (my bad, "X") who give these unprofessional scoopers a platform in the first place.

@DrReedRichards - I agree with you on almost everything you say on this site, but have to disagree here. These writers are giving the scoopers as much of a platform as the Twitter users do

Not saying there's absolutely no blame here. Just that the majority of it stems from elsewhere.

Who cares? What we want is Daredevil, Kingpin, & Tombstone in Spider-Man 4. And introduce Black Cat too before Sony uses and ruins her.

Am I the only one here that wasn’t expecting a Tom Holland appearance, or even cameo in Born Again?

@RolandD - I agree, wasn’t expecting to see Spider-Man even show up in Dare Devils series.

@RolandD - *Looks at the Tom Holland price tag and raises hand* Nope. Me neither. Would have been shocked if Holland appeared because he doesn't need to. Save the actual physical team-up for "SM4". This show seems to already have enough going for it to attract viewers, particularly the ones who were fans of the Netflix shows.

Now "She-Hulk", on the other hand, needed to pony up the Ruffalo cash because you can't really do the She-Hulk origin story without Hulk. Same with "FatWS", "WV", etc. But "DD:BA" will be just fine without Holland (physically anyway). Hell, if they REALLY felt that they needed to have Spidey in it in some form (other than verbally", they could just recycle/reshoot footage of someone in the Spidey suit swinging around (or just CG it). Like if there were a scene where DD swings past a giant billboard of JJJ ranting about Spidey with an image or video of him in the background. None of that would actually require Holland or Simmons.

@RolandD - I don’t think anybody expected Spider-Man to show up in this.
RolandD
RolandD - 9/10/2023, 6:32 PM
@StSteven - great ideas on how to include him if they decide to do anything at all. I wasn’t even thinking about the price tag but yeah, that would blow up the budget.
StSteven
StSteven - 9/10/2023, 7:28 PM
@RolandD - Yeah, a shorter way to say what I was trying to say above is that now that Marvel has complete ownership of the characters across their various media (well, Spidey is still tricky) and they don't have to deal with whatever limitations were in place between Marvel Studios and Marvel TV, they are free to involve/reference Spidey in other shows/movies (i.e. "DD:BA") any way they want. So while actually having Holland appear would probably unnecessary and cost prohibitive, they totally can reference him in-story through verbal, print, online, video, action figures, sock puppets, the frickin' Spider-Signal in the sky, whatever without incurring the Holland cost.

So I wouldn't be surprised if Spidey is in fact referenced in one or more of the above methods, especially if he's one of the street-level vigilantes that Fisk is going to target along with Punisher and possibly Jessica Jones. Hell, they could even surprise the hell out of us by referencing MK as well (even though last we saw him he wasn't stateside). Imagine Fisk doing his campaign rallies with a giant screen behind him showing a montage of the various street-level heroes he wants to target. Pretty sure Kate Bishop, Ronin, and Echo would be in that as well, along with some characters we haven't seen yet in the MCU just to break the Internet (i.e Daughters of the Dragon or Heroes for Hire).

So my point is that there's a hell of a lot they can do without using the actual actors (and having to pay for them) and/or reusing previous footage in the case of previously used MCU characters.
StSteven
StSteven - 9/10/2023, 7:33 PM
@RolandD - PLUS, having something a video montage like I just described prominently featured in "DD:BA" would go a LONG way in establishing this "street-level" corner of the MCU and who occupies it (at least in NYC), which would help to organize and compartmentalize all the new characters that they've been introducing recently for viewers. Could even include Kamala, although she's Jersey and is soon going to be intergalactic planetary planetary intergalactic (another dimension, another dimension).

@StSteven - Hold those thoughts. I’m putting Feige in touch with you. Oh, wait. Not until after the strike is over. You’ll need a writing credit and I’m sure that you are no scab.
StSteven
StSteven - 9/11/2023, 6:47 PM
@RolandD - Haha thanks man and no I ain't no scab, but I do think (hope) that now that we're (hopefully) past the Chapek era of (and I'm paraphrasing here): "I don't care if it isn't connected or the VFX isn't finished! I need more content now damn it! Do you hear me?!? More! More! MORE!" Feige's finally back in full control of what, how, why, and when MCU content gets developed and released and we'll something like a suggested, not just for the street-level characters that they currently have (and will soon have) but the other corners as well.

Like, I'm sure that Kevin & Co. are well aware of the current sentiment, not just from the folks like us but also the GA, and while we may know what something like "Secret Wars" will entail, the GA doesn't, so there are likely a lot of folks out there who are thinking "Okay, we have a whole slew of new characters (i.e. She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, MK, etc.) but where do they all fit into whatever we're heading toward?" I mean the GA knows that we're in the middle of the Multiverse Saga, but that's about it.

So to me it would make sense for Marvel to start to compartmentalize their characters to a certain degree to help the GA (and even us) make some sense of what they have laid out so far so that we can all have a better idea of what is coming, in both the smaller and larger scales. Like with the Infinity Saga it was a lot easier to follow, because you had considerably fewer characters and just one main bad guy, and everything seemed to head in a singular direction. But we don't necessarily have that right now because we have all these different corners and we're not sure how they all feed into the larger MS narrative. So to me, more clearly defining these different corners (like I said above with the street-level characters) would be a smart move at this point (or in the near future). They have enough characters now that they can legitimately define each corner as almost its own micro-verse.

So, for example, define the street-level corner with those heroes I listed and Fisk as the big bad of that corner. The we have the supernatural characters that we've introduced so far and those to come, and you can make Mephisto the big bad of that corner. Then we have the Avengers as the large-scale Earth-bound corner that generally deal with "Earth-level" threats (like whatever happens in "CA:BNW" and "Thunderbolts"). Then you will have F4 to basically take the place of GotG for cosmic stuff, and ultimately X-Men to handle mutant-related threats in the mutant corner. Now, naturally these corners will deal with issues that are normally outside of their respective corners and then of course team up for the big "crossover events", but I think that starting to compartmentalizing the characters (just like 6 year old me would do with my Marvel action figures) makes sense at this point.
