US AGAIN Composer Pinar Toprak Explains How Working On The Short Differed To CAPTAIN MARVEL

Composer Pinar Toprak is perhaps best known for her work on action franchises like Krypton and Captain Marvel, but how did Disney Animation's Us Again differ to that Marvel Studios movie? Check it out..

Us Again premiered in theaters alongside Raya and the Last Dragon earlier this year, and is now streaming on Disney+. Last week, a global press conference was held for the short, and we here at ComicBookMovie.com were lucky enough to be among those in attendance.

Composer Pinar Toprak, who delivers some of the finest work her career here, was part of the event and ended up being asked about making the leap from action movies to this romantic tale.

"Before I was doing a lot of action, I did a lot of emotional stuff," the Captain Marvel and Stargirl composer laughed. "I love writing. I have a bit of a musical ADD, I think. So, I need to be writing different styles, different genres, but it all comes [back] to the heart. In Captain Marvel, some of the scenes I loved writing the most are really the quieter, more intimate scenes. That's where we connect the heart to the audience, so that comes easily."

It seems there really aren't that many differences between big budget action blockbusters and smaller intimate tales like this after all. Toprak created a memorable theme for Carol Danvers and made the action feel epic, but those moments with the hero and the young Monica Rambeau, for example, definitely stand out. If you haven't checked out her work in Us Again yet, though, make it a priority!

We recently got to speak to Us Again director Zach Parish, Reference Choreographers Keone & Mari Madrid, producer Brad Simonsen, and Pinar, and you can check those out below:
