"I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way..."

Well, it seems Miss Rabbit was drawn just a little too bad (ie, sexy) for Disney, as the infamously sultry Who Framed Roger Rabbit? character is to be given a makeover to make her “more relevant” to today’s culture.

Jessica Rabbit will still feature in the Roger Rabbit Car Toon Spin Disneyland ride, but she'll be ditching her signature red dress for a trench-coat and a fedora as she embarks on her new career as a private investigator.

“Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin is the latest Disneyland attraction to undergo a major renovation to remove outdated and problematic scenes — joining Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain and Jungle Cruise,” reports OC Register.

As you might expect, many fans are up in arms about the "woke desexualization" of a beloved character, but this time, they might actually have a point.

Jessica Rabbit's exaggeratedly sexy appearance played into the fact that she was created as a subversion of the femme fatale trope, and she actually ends up saving the day after being one step ahead of every other character for the entire movie. That said, it's easy enough to understand why Disney would want to update her appearance and "damsel in distress" role for a family theme park ride.

Get a tease of Jessica's new look below, and let us know what you make of this in the comments.

How is this new? Wasn't this an outfit she wore in the film?

@Drace24 - isn't this the coat she would wear on stage and then strip?

She's a subversion. That's the whole point. Not surprised Disney taking the easy way out. I get that it's a family park but there's nothing really threatening about that in regards to a theme park ride.

@SirDuckAlot - How dare you? A fictional cartoon women's clothes are slightly different in a promo poster than they are in an old movie! This is a very mature and sensible thing to get angry over! You hear me???

Honestly I'm surprised Disney is even bringing her back. Recently rewatched Who Framed Roger Rabbit and it's still a great film unlike the Space Jams. RIP Bob Hobskins.

I feel like no one cares about "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" anymore. It just doesn't have that same Disney cache' that other films do. And that's a shame because it's a really good movie. Updating Jessica Rabbit? Sure. Why not? But is that really going to make me more interested in the movie? Not really. It might make people who have never seen the movie more interested. But when they go see the movie they'll be confused about the change. "Harpo, who dis woman?" At the same time I see the other side's point of Disney desexualizing women just to be "safe". Or Disney not getting (or more likely not caring) that Jessica Rabbit is actually a subversive character that turns the whole "femme fatale" or "damsel in distress" trope on its head. I totally get that too. But I'm trying to find room to care about this argument. Or the changes. Or Roger Rabbit in general. I cared enough to write this long *ssed post. So I guess there's that. *sigh* If you need me I'll be watching my worn out VHS copy of "WFRR?"

@BecauseICare - Disney just did a huge 4k release and during the pandemic released it in theaters basically for a year and a half (drive-ins/outdoor)... so, people care.
The merch consistently does well I know this because I have designed soft goods year after year with this license... this is an odd move that I really don’t think anyone was complaining about.
Look at the design of many modern female game characters that are considered family friendly to the magical girls like sailor moon who have been accepted and adopted by the west (and by adopted I mean mostly copied) walking along Disney Main Street in skimpy short skirts with their bums hanging out...
Moana has less clothes on than Jessica as does pocahontas. The Disney park executives basically just slut shamed Jessica Rabbit from being an equal financial partner in her marriage to some made up BS.

I even forgot this had something to do with Disney, so if they just didn't do anything at all with Roger Rabbit I wouldn't even know
