With so much attention currently on Warner Bros. and Embracer Group's ambitious plans for more movies set in the world of The Lord of the Rings, it's easy to forget Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been shooting for months now.

Production for season 2 shifted from New Zealand to the UK, leading to concerns that Middle-earth will suddenly look and feel vastly different. While the UK has plenty of gorgeous scenery, New Zealand is hard to beat, but these new set photos (via SFFGazette.com) show that the team working on the show have had no problem recreating the Elven kingdom of Eregion.

Taken above Bray Studios in Berkshire, a statue has been spotted that suggests we're getting a nod to one of J.R.R. Tolkien's most important characters.

That is the former King of the Noldor, the craftsman Feanor, the Elf who crafted the Silmarils.

What's intriguing about this is the fact Amazon isn't actually allowed to adapt material from The Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales as they only hold the rights to The Lord of the Rings Appendices. Still, there's no harm in alluding to the past, and we can't imagine the Tolkien estate - which still remains in charge of all First-Age material - will have an issue with this.

We wouldn't, however, get your hopes up for a flashback featuring Feanor and his role in season 2 might boil down to being little more than an Easter Egg. It's certainly possible the show's producers have come to some sort of arrangement with the Tolkien estate, but wouldn't bank on it.

Time will tell on this one, but it's hard not to be intrigued by where the series might be taking us as we continue to learn more about the creation of the Rings and Sauron's rise to power.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 is expected to premiere on Prime Video next year.

No thanks, I had to force myself to finish the first season and I definitely don’t wanna go through that again.

@EZBeast - Although admittedly I know nothing about Age of Sigmar. I do find their miniatures to be really cool though and have considered buying some Flesheater Courts minis.

As someone who had a lot of trouble getting into the series in the past this show really worked for me. The first few episodes were really slow but by the end I was super invested and it made me want to go back and watch the movies with more of an understanding of the world. Also the Sauron reveal was great imo I really didn’t see that coming. I’m down for Season 2 although it seems like a lot of OG fans didn’t care for the show

Wait where's the short hair and high heels?

Feanor is mentioned in the appendices so they can have a statue of him. They literally name drop him in like episode 5 or 6 of s1 joshy.

I'm a Kiwi, but I also spent a few years living in the UK. There are parts of the UK that have scenery very similar to NZ so I don't think the second season will look drastically different. Any wide reaching alpine vistas may look different as NZ has more of those than the UK, but I guess they can always touch those up with VFX.

@bcom - I went to nz right before COVID, like legit came home and everyone was wearing masks at the airport and I was like wtf, and I loved it but only did the north island. I want to get back so badly and visit the South Island. Which do you prefer?

@EZBeast - I live in Christchurch (mid way up the east coast of the south island) and the south island is where you get more of the mountainous alpine vista shots that you see in the Lord of the Rings movies. The north island gets more sub-tropical the further north you go and some of the landscape up there is breathtaking, especially around the volcanic regions. Even I don't get sick of seeing it.

Both islands definitely have their pros.
