Anson Mount, who played Black Bolt in the now defunct Inhumans TV series, has taken issue with some Tweets from Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, and publicly called him out...

James Gunn's provocative nature has landed him in hot water on Twitter in the past, but this time he seems to have pissed off a fellow (well, former) Marvel alum for a far less offensive series of Tweets.

After telling an anecdote about Djimon Hounsou being surprised by how tall Chris Pratt was, The Guardians of the Galaxy director mentioned that he wished actors - men, in particular - would stop lying about their height in order to land a job.

This evidentially struck a nerve with former Marvel's Inhumans actor Anson Mount, who proceeded to blast Gunn for his comments.

Gunn responded by pointing out that "as a director, it does matter, because when you’re shooting two or more people the heights make a difference in how it’s shot. And sometimes you are looking for height disparity or parity. It’s about the storytelling."

What do you guys make of this somewhat bizarre exchange? Do you see where Mount is coming from, or is he blowing Gunn's Tweets way out of proportion?

I agree it shouldn't matter what height you are, if you put the right one on your resume

@bkmeijer - yeah. It's not even like it'll get you rejected instantly. Like with rdj as Tony stark. But they do need to know how tall to address the height difference.

@bkmeijer - So if they needed a 5 foot dude but a 6 foot dude applied by lying wouldn't that make a huge difference?

bkmeijer2 - 6/16/2021, 4:57 AM
@Matador - If the dude put the right height on his resume it wouldn't have

@bkmeijer - That's Gunn's point

@Matador - exactly. But now that I think about it though, I guess it would make difference though. With the difference being that they have to take that height into account (which again, Gunn doesn't want to)

@bkmeijer - it clearly does. It's one of the pressure's that male actors have. If the pressure wasn't their then these men wouldn't have to lie. It's one of the few examples of an unfair expectation put on me. Some roles may call for a particular height, but in most cases it's just to show the male is taller than the female like Anson says.

@Itwasme - yeah I can definitely see that be the case at times, but I can also see it be the case Gunn's making.

@bkmeijer - We don't know the situation, but why is there a height requirement at all? It's a very common thing they have, and how many roles really need it?

bkmeijer2 - 6/16/2021, 7:59 AM
@Itwasme - I think as others have pointed out it could be like with Guardians to make Groot look bigger or Rocket larger in comparison to an average sized Quill.

I don't know really, but I can see how very large differences in height could prove difficult to work with as director.

@Itwasme - There shouldn't be like the Actor pointed out. A lot of actresses are a lot shorter than men and it doesn't matter to them as much as long as their hot. Scarlett Johanson is only 5'3 and thats only if she didn't lie about her height. It's easier for someone to adjust the camera compared to an actor securing a job after nailing the interview process.
