BLACK ADAM Star Noah Centineo No Longer Playing He-Man In Sony's MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

The live-action Masters of the Universe reboot has just lost its lead star, as Noah Centineo is no longer set to take on the role of He-Man in the project. Find more details on his departure right here.

Believe it or not, it's been over two years since we first heard that Sony Pictures had cast Noah Centineo as He-Man in a live-action Masters of the Universe reboot. Since then, the actor has landed a leading role in Black Adam as Atom-Smasher, and Collider is now reporting that he's exited the project.

Aaron and Adam Nee (Band of Robbers) remain attached to write and direct the movie which has been through a number of screenplays over the years (David S. Goyer, Christopher Yost, and Matt Holloway and Art Marcum have all taken a crack at it).

"He is no longer attached to that project," a representative for Centineo told the site, declining to reveal any specifics about what led to Centineo moving on from playing He-Man.

Fans of the character remain excited for this Masters of the Universe reboot, but it really doesn't appear to be a priority for Sony Pictures given how slowly it's moving along. The pandemic won't have helped matters, of course, and there's no denying that this is a property that could be tough to get right in live-action (like some of the recent Hercules movies, it could easily feel like a generic fantasy adventure).

Centineo's busy schedule could certainly be an issue as he's currently working on Black Adam and will then move on to a couple of big projects on Netflix, including a movie based on the recent madness surrounding GameStop's stock prices and a CIA spy thriller TV series from Doug Liman.
