This sounds interesting and actually like what a reboot should be, a reimagining of a franchise. I'd be down for it.

I had no interest in Total Recall, so I never watched it. I enjoyed the first Fraser Mummy movie. The second one was meh. The third one was an abomination. I like Len, but I'm no horror fan. I prefer the action and adventure route.

Total Recall wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. It def had some great scenes, and Colin Ferral isn't annoying in it, which is rare

I liked the first one. The Scorpion King at the end of the 2nd was terrible CGI. The third one was just horrible. Michelle Yoew (spelling?) and Jet Li were both wasted in that movie.

Urrgh! - we the hell are they giving these projects to this hack so he can bastardize them into his sub-par modern interpretations.

Yes, let's give the guy another film to remake after he bastardized a sci-fi classic. Nice logic, Hollywood.

I really liked the Egypt setting in the other ones, but I can see modern day America working if they go more of a horror route. They have to include some Egyptian mythology though

I went to the theaters when the first MUMMY opened thinking it was a Horror film and I was pi$$ed when it was Action. I'm hoping this one is indeed a Horror film. I'm a little skeptic on the "Modern Day" terminology but, I didn't like the "Old School" look that was done with The WOLFMAN either so, what ever works, just make it good cause "EPIC" is a little hard to compare to when taking about a MUMMY reboot.

Total Recall reboot was such a pile of shit , what a terrible movie! the cgi was atrocious

I can't believe they're rebooting this already. If that wasn't bad enough, now it's going to be a straight-up horror movie?

A mummy movie should have a horror element, yes, but it should also have an action/adventure element as well.

I'm not feeling this reboot right out of the gate.

TheNameIsBetty - 12/14/2012, 7:02 AM
C'MON! Brendan Fraser is one of my favorite actors. Don't soil his legacy with a director with no good track record. I mean...okay, I'll concede: Wiseman's filmography isn't exactly a good forecast of this movie, but he obviously has a thing for reboots.

Don't do this man. You're first reboot didn't work out so well. And you're going to make Jet Li look stupid.

Another reboot? Anyway, Please get another director like Brad Bird or Gary Ross to helm The Mummy reboot instead of Len Wisemen. Look at Total Recall?

I don't think they could do much worse than the Brendan Fraser movies and I liked his remake of Total Recall, but not his director's cut. The Ethan Hawk thing was stupid and confusing.
beane2099
beane2099 - 12/14/2012, 8:58 AM
But the real question is will they be "grounding it in reality?" Cause y'know it's apparently not a movie these days if it aint grounded in reality. That said, I liked the first movie and that's about it. The second one cheesed me off (lookin' at you CG The Rock).

Hopefully it's more along the lines of modern takes on the Boris Karloff, Tom Tyler, Lon Chaney, Jr. Mummy movies.

I don't think Len Wisemen is that bad of a director I just think he needs a project that he fully feels comfortable with. I mean he is way better then P.W. Anderson who clearly does not know, or even try to understand the property he's working on; and is always releasing the worst movies with his horrid actress of a wife Mila.

Eh the Brendan Fraiser movies were awesome, we have enough movies of helpless morons running around screaming there is something chasing them. It was refreshing to see Fraiser scream back at the mummy and blow his head off with a shotgun. Epic!

Doubt there comes anything good from the idea they have.

I would love to see great horror version about the Mummy but i think it would be better if it takes place in the end of 1800 century or beginning of 1900 century. Fits better in my opinion and gives it look.

New Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Invisible Man movies are must.

Love Mummy and Mummy Returns, Mummy 3 was alright, but I would never ever watch it again. Give me the gorgeous Rachel Weisz over the other chick anyday

But by the sounds of this one, it could be more horror based, setting it apart from the Brendan Fraser movies. The Mummy movies were more humorous adventure movies, this one could be a full on scare the shit out of you Mummy movie, which is fine. I just wished they would have waited until the end of the decade to reboot it, at least it would be over 20 years since the original then
Rambaldi47
Rambaldi47 - 12/14/2012, 1:12 PM
I'm optimistic since Spaights is apparently writing it. His original screenplay for Prometheus was amazing!! I'm still angry that Fox brought in Lindelof to gut it. It would have been a perfect movie. Anyway, I like the idea of going back to the Mummy's horror roots. Absolutely loved the first 2 Fraser ones, minus the horrble Scorpion King CGI. The 3rd could have been good, but wasn't.

What's with people hate ? it's not like brendan frasser's mummies are that good to begin with, with underworld director and horror approaches (and of course kate beckinsale since the guy likes to includes his wife in his movies), this series maybe will going to right direction
