@tmp3 - Aliens was a poor sequel to someone else's idea. T2 is so badly written, they've never been able to continue it's story to the point that it's now the laughing stock of the movie franchise world.

Personally love t2 and aliens, but yeah Avatar is overrated crap. Take away the mind blowing effects and it wouldnt have made half of what is made

@Notebook - “Sequel to classic movie is bad, therefore movie is bad” is some insanely faulty logic. If T2 is bad because of lazy sequels then I guess Godfather 2 sucks ass now, right? Also, Aliens went in a completely different direction to Alien, and Cameron put his own stamp on that world

It's cool they are building practical elements and all that but this just feels far too late to make a sequel. People loved this when it came out and then forgot about it. It's not like a timeless classic or anything.

@marvel72 - Avatar 1 is supposed to get a re-release before Avatar 2 comes out... and it will likely surpass Endgame as a result.
Its anybody's guess what Avatar 2 and 3 and ... will do in the box office. Like many other Fox properties that Disney got in the deal... it could be a loss considering how much money Cameron is going to put into it.
