ROBOCOP Will Be Re-Released In Theaters For Its 30th Anniversary

As we celebrate Robocop's 30th anniversary today, Alamo Drafthouse has announced a special one-night only return to theaters for the Paul Verhoeven-directed sci-fi classic. Come take a look!

Today marks the 30th anniversary of director Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi classic RoboCop and to celebrate Alamo Drafthouse has announced that they will be re-releasing the film for one-night only on September 10.

Peter Weller will be in attendance at the special event, which is being live-streamed to theaters across the country from Dallas City Hall - the same place where production filmed its OCP Headquarters scenes. Weller will also engage in an audience Q&A following the screening. Additionally, since these are special Movie Party screenings, fans will also be able to pick up special movie props with their ticket purchase.

This September we’re marking the thirtieth anniversary of ROBOCOP, Paul Verhoeven’s wild cybernetic vision of future of law enforcement, with a once-in-a-lifetime livestream event broadcast from the real OCP Headquarters shooting location, aka City Hall in Dallas, TX.

And joining us? Part man, part machine, all badass, the first and the greatest RoboCop: Peter Weller! The icon will be there live and in person for a conversation and Q&A that’ll get beamed into ROBOCOP Movie Party screenings across the country.

That’s not all. Both the live event and all Alamo Drafthouse screenings are ROBOCOP Movie Party screenings, with special props included with the ticket so you can interact with the film.

Heading to Dallas for the live event? Get ready for the ultimate ROBOCOP experience, with OCP-approved photo ops, food trucks (in case you didn’t have your rudimentary paste), full bars with robo-cocktails, and the opportunity to watch the film at the site of RoboCop and ED-209’s final showdown. Oh yeah, and PETER WELLER will be there!

That's fair enough that you like it.

For me it didn't work, but shame that José Padilha didn't get to make his version of the movie as it had studio interference, as the Elite Squad movies were good, and he played a part in Narcos.

The remake was ok but I think they were missing the whole point by making it a straight up
SCI-FI action film. Robocop is a brutal satire on 1960's America,the Reagan era and emerging
corporate culture.

The film was really ahead of it's time with the idea of OCP privatizing an essential public service
like Law Enforcement and trying to run it as a for profit business.

Look at what happened with private military contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan and the potential for corruption that exists when you combine management focused on the bottom line while trying to
do a job with real people who make life and death decisions.

I put it on another article earlier but this is the perfect one for it:
A trailer for the making of and the creation of the original Robocop movies.

Watched the likes of Terminator 2 and Robocop when I was 8 or 9 years old, and have been infatuated ever since.
Could be a watch for fans of The Death of "Superman Lives": What Happened?

...saw this in the theater when I was younger(30 years ago) it was so awesome for the time but would still watch it if it came on cable....when something hot came out back then..it would wind up in a rap song so you know it was good!!!!
