Was excited for this universe at first but after seeing the artwork here I'm getting less a "Old Republic" feel and more "new & polished" hints.
I'm not sure I'm digging this just yet. Really hope they put in some good writers.

@Blergh - Never read any of them, but if these end up being like the novel tie-in to the films then its going to be divisive because it just going to feel like its pandering to a specific audience. For example, since JJ Abrams didn't shoot a funeral scene for Han Solo the comic or novel tie-ins had to do it but since its exclusive to the novel that makes it feel less canon to the films.

I feel like any new comic or novel is just trying to bandage any mistakes their movies or shows made.

They said recently that the High Republic Era lasts until 82 years before a New Hope. And The Acolyte show is supposed to take place at the end of the High Republic Era. Which pretty much confirms that it's gonna be a live-action Darth Plagueis tv show, which is pretty god damn cool.

I'm getting a little old and slow, so for us in the pre-senile crowd I think they need to publish a graph showing where all the Star Wars movies and streaming series place in the timeline. I'm actually starting to get things mixed up, something I usually have no problem keeping track of.

Disney, you really wanna do this? You wanna commit to a 3 phase multi year rollout before seeing how the initial response is to this launch?

@JFerguson - I'm actually impressed they did any planning based on how the sequel trilogy was produced.

@DAGuess - True but still sloppy on Disney’s part. Wish we could go back to how it used to be, where Hollywood people had BOTH a plan and a leash that told them not to announce those plans all at once.

For example, George Lucas had all 3 OG trilogy movies planned out but still knew not to blow his load by announcing sequel plans. He waited to see how the first movie did before giving Hollywood execs his sequel treatments

@JFerguson - Starting this as a book/comic series is low risk high reward. If it was a bunch of tv shows about unknown characters in a new part of the timeline that would be risky. But this cost very little money. If the super nerds like the books, they'll expand it further. The general audience won't even see these. Pretty ingenious in my opinion.

@InfinitePunches - Oh that’s right!! I guess testing the waters with these printed products isn’t that big of a deal. The “multi year rollout” bit just sounded more grand than it actually is. 😂

Soy Wars. 😜

@AnthonyVonGeek - I just started the first book and they brutally kill off a character in the first chapter after telling you all about her life. You're making a judgement on something you haven't even read. And I'm guessing you don't hate everything Disney Star Wars because your avatar is Grogu.

Man, I was actually looking forward to this. But I'm pretty underwhelmed. I'm one of those nerds who actually reads the books and crap too

Thank [frick] they’re exploring a new era. They never should’ve continued the Skywalker stuff to begin with, the new trilogy is so bad.
