So when they first annouced her in the running everyone was using awful pics of her I was like man this chick is hit. Then they announced she was picked last night so I did my own research and I'd definably clap them cheeks. Yawl use better pictures next time.

@HammerLegFoot - Your criteria for good casting is whether or not you'd have sex with her? That's pretty gross Mr. Weinstein

I still think it’s wild that we’re getting this movie, the book is such a good read. Hopefully it’s actually a solid version of the story in the book and not just a Marvel take the name and make it vaguely like the book in some elements

@tluciotti74 - If Deadpool blows up, they could do worse than the actor playing Dogpool. That little bitch's star is on the rise.

Personally I’d like the new movie to only introduce Superman and go up against Lex & Metallo.
Introduce Supergirl in the sequel with Brainiac as the villain and then have them move against Zod in the third one.

I’d love if the structured the new movie trilogies the following:
Part 1: Origins and main antagonists (Lex, Joker, Manta, Reverse Flash etc).
Part 2: Seasoned hero meets their sidekick (Supergirl, Robin, Impulse, Aqualad)
Part 3: Retiring the hero in an epic fashion

@Blergh - I feel part of the problem is we have had three Superman origin type stories, I think that parts unfortunately a dead horse.
So I completely get James deciding to just put Superman in a pre established world and show him dealing with his place in that universe (which is new for a Superman film ).
The cinematic universe needs to get up and running quick who knows how long it will take to get to Superman 2 or 3.

I hope James manages to keep the budgets low and quality high at least in the beginning because interest needs to be built for his universe.

Most of Tom King's writing has been awful. I have stopped hanging out with people who like his books.

@Beer85 - Are we meant to stop hanging out with people who like books we don't like? I wish I'd have known this, I could've really freed up my schedule.

Maybe I can stop hanging out with anyone who likes something I don't. And anyone who doesn't like anything I do. And finally I will be able to fulfil my life-long dream of becoming a hermit monk with secret Kung Fu powers.

@ObserverIO - Generally no, but with Tom King i make an exception. Otherwise I am a extremely tolerant oinker.

@Beer85 - What did he do to make you hate him with such an intolerant and immovable passion?
Beer85

@ObserverIO - His Batman run. His take on Guy Gardner. And the odd constant mommy issues, most of the female/male relationships in his work are really odd, its like the man is a kid and the woman a mommy. With a decent editor he could be OK, but he is one of those absolute "No I wont buy it" when I see the name on the cover, I was also half-way joking about stopping being friends with people who buy his stuff, back when Comixology wasnt utter crapola, I borrowed a friends account and he borrowed mine ( like a slightly more modern take of borrowing books to each other) I read lots of Tom King and just found the stuff creepy and really annoying at the same time. Then I youtubed some videos and noticed that I wasn't the only one.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 1/30/2024, 11:33 AM
@Beer85 - I get it. I dunno if you read Heroes in Crisis, but that was another one of his that people hated.

We really need other comics-reading websites. Comixology (now Amazon) seems to have a monopoly. There's a couple of other sites starting up (DSTLRY, Omnibus, GlobalComix) but they don't have any of the big companies like DC, Marvel or even IDW.

I wonder if Amazon have some kind of exclusive contract with these companies, because otherwise they're losing money by not making themselves available to other possibly more favored websites (everyone hates Comixology now, I would welcome a site that was basically what Comixology used to be).

@ObserverIO - Thing is that comics are such a low priority for DC/Marvel I dont expect the stuff to ever be what it used to be. I have not used DC Infinity or Infinite or what it is called, I still get some books from the comic shop. Every now and then when DC decides to publish something that doesn't look horrible. I made a pre-order for that new set in the 30s Dan Jurgens Batman book cause it looked cool for example. I think one of the main reason WB is still letting "DC" publish comics is so they can make constantly new versions of Batman and Superman with different costumes and ethnicities just to make it even harder for people who try and make their own versions when those characters become public domain.

There’s nothing better then getting a stamp of approval from one of the creators of the version of the character you are playing aswell as the run that is providing the basis for the movie you are leading….

Milly was good in HOD and brought a hardened edge to Rhaenyra that would fit this Kara imo.

Looking forward to seeing her performance!!.

I flip flop.

With the DCU, I mean. It's not so much that I'm ambivalent about it. It's more like I'm bi-polar about it. I go from being negative about it to positive about it and back again.

When I'm being negative about it, it's akin to despair.
But all I can muster when I'm being positive about it is a vague whisp of hope. Which I suppose it what Superman stands for, after all (at least according to Zack Snyder and Neil Gaiman before him), so it's apt enough.

Mily Alcock being cast as Supergirl actually put me me back on a negative tip.
I got wind of it a few hours early and if you read my comments on the article about Batman not being in Legacy, you'll see a man gone mad.
I couldn't exactly say why. It's not like she's a bad actress or anything. She was great in HOTD (which admittedly is the only thing I've ever seen her in). It's not even that she doesn't look the part, I don't think. Maybe I just preferred the other actors to her?

Maybe I'm just regretfully having to let go of the hope of seeing Sasha Calle in the role again. That's probably it. I'll get over it.

But right now?

[frick] this shitshow. I am no longer so excited for WoT and am way less excited about Legacy.

@ObserverIO - I completely understand your feelings over Sasha. She was the best part in a absolute shit show of a film and she absolutely deserved to continue on.

However, I don't think you should lose hope entirely. Remember, "just because someone stumbles and loses their way doesn't mean they are lost forever."

I'm sure she'll do great but I lowkey wish that it was Meg Donelly that got instead, I feel like she could've played both the classic fish-out-of-water pre-New 52 Supergirl and the more jaded Supergirl that Tom King has created.

Plus she's the only choice who's look just screamed Supergirl to me imo.
