@garu - that’s an infinitely better picture than the one I’ve seen used. Thanks, I was disappointed at first.

@garu - oh well. The other young lady was much better looking but I’m not bothered by this. Though, she does look like Will Poulter

@TheNewYorker - Maybe they're both related.

...to James Gunn.

@Nightmare - they all seemed inept to me ... which could probably fit well with the character. this Millie chick will do just fine

I guess she was willing to audition…

Every casting for this has been an easy home run so far. Have an insanely high amount of faith in this, ngl.

@tmp3 - i know people talk about corenswet but i think my fave casting in this is rachel as lois. How she looks in mrs. Maisel is exactly how i picture lois to look.

It must’ve come down to performance and range. No knock against Donnelly but her resume is thin. She looks more like Kara but sometimes that ain’t enough.

Alcock was damn good in HOD. Fine as [frick]

@GhostDog - who's the pr0st1tute?

NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 1/29/2024, 7:40 PM
@GhostDog - It must've come down to whatever Gunn was looking for. Because if we're gonna talk about performance and ranges then that means he doesn't think Emilia Jones doing all the heavy lifting for CODA to the point it won an Oscar wasn't worth considering vs Alcock who was just in half the 1st Season of an HBO show before passing the torch to another actress.

TheVisionary25 - 1/29/2024, 7:44 PM
@NinnesMBC - didn’t she not read for the role?

I feel that was reported on and that it was down to her & Donnelly
GhostDog

@NinnesMBC - I think it was reported that Jones refused to read for role
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 1/29/2024, 7:50 PM
@TheVisionary25 - A rumor that came from someone with a podcast right? Not much to weight in considering the source. And in this article Rohan does mention her as one of the runner ups so to me it means she did audition.

I'll die on my hill that it would've been better to give her the chance than someone already well-known for playing one of these aloof, poker-face Targaryen characters and someone that voiced the character in animated films based on her body of work in said film and other projects. She to me was the inspired choice and that would've need this for a bigger breakout.

And being completey honest with you, this is one of those few rare times in which I don't think she has "the face" for Kara Zor-El nor feel anything from the chosen actress that says Supergirl or Woman of Tomorrow. All I see is her character from House of the Dragon.

Good luck to her and I'm sure many are excited, but personally I'm not. Like with most of the new DCU.

NinnesMBC - 1/29/2024, 7:51 PM
@GhostDog - It was however that podcast doesn't have the best record in scoops either, so I didn't give it much thought.
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 1/29/2024, 7:55 PM
@NinnesMBC - it was from Jeff Sneider who is pretty regarded in the trades.

She out of the 3 looks the least like the character but given we never saw her audition , I can’t judge how it was and why Gunn thought she was the best choice but in HOD , she had an hard edge to her that I feel could fit this Supergirl
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 1/29/2024, 10:25 PM
@TheVisionary25 - Not what I've heard, these days I only trust in the scoops from that Toast user on Twitter and Instagram due to the amount of details she provides.

I think all actresses have an edge that they can bring to their performances and in this case Gunn picked an obvious choice due to her work in the GoT universe.
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 1/29/2024, 10:35 PM
@NinnesMBC - I disagree about the edge thing

Some actresses try but can’t bring that hardened edge while others can naturally

I think that hardened edge Millie had in HOD felt natural and I can see it fitting this version of Supergirl

@NinnesMBC - LORD willing, I'd suggest rumors like that are rumors, not confirmations, either way.
santoanderson
santoanderson - 1/29/2024, 7:05 PM
Eh, I was hoping for the other finalist simply because that actress also voices Supergirl in animation and James Gunn said he intended to cast the same actors to play characters both in live action and animation.

@NinnesMBC - Using the shitty movie month of November to prove a point holy......shit!I guess you're going to leave off it was franchise record-low opening weekend and make a 100 million less than the other movies.

@jst5 - Many movies have released on November and became hits from Harry Potter and even a slasher film based on the monthly holiday last year. It had a low-opening weekend that thanks to the overseas market it helped skyrocket to earn 300 million over it's course.

You know exactly what I mean. Loser like you simp like your are some kind of defender of the worlds moral compass in hopes that maybe, just maybe, you can be an ally! @AvalonX - Wow. Quite a bit of pointless, maybe kinda pervy, nonsense projected onto someone else for no reason other than, maybe, in theory, you for some reason may have taken it personally that they said something you disagreed with. LORD willing, get your head of gutter of society and not make something out of nothing.

@dagenspear - This is not the first time you've replied when I was going at it with this particular person. Its also not the first time you've quoted the Lord or something religous so I don't know what to make of your response. Maybe, based on previous arguments, I went in on this person. It isn't pervy. It's to make a point of the overly obnoxious and blind defense of an agenda and people who defend it. This demasculation of men is ruining the nuclear family which in turn is ruining our society. My point was that woman are not actually attracted to simping as it turns out. The "true believers" as I coined them do nothing but insult with people they disagree with. This is the culture now. "I dont agree with you and if you are on the unpopular side of the argument, you'll be cancelled." Its bullying at its finest. Maybe you're sincere. That doesn't mean I agree with the people I've seen you defend. Either way, I'm not going to attack you. That doesn't mean you get to judge me because you dont like my responses to someone else.
