The Flash arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on August 29, and a clip from the director's commentary with Andy Muschietti breaking down arguably the most lambasted (well, after the Chrono-Bowl) sequence has now been shared online.

In the video, Muschietti walks us through the opening action scene, which has come to be known as "Microwave Baby," as the Fastest Man Alive pushes himself to the limit to save a bunch of infants who fall from a hospital window.

The It filmmaker mentions that star Ezra Miller actually filmed most of this scene, with CGI used for only a few specific shots to enhance the action.

Find out what Muschietti has to say in the player below.

"Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash features Barry Allen traveling back in time in order to change events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to help. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian…albeit not the one he’s looking for.

Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"

The Flash is produced by Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco, with a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and a screen story by John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein and Joby Harold, based on characters from DC. Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Double Dream/a Disco Factory production of an Andy Muschietti film.

Andy Muschietti is a bad director and Gunn handing him Batman is irresponsible.

That's like Feige handing antman 3 director spiderman 4🤡

What is Gunn smoking?🤡

@AmazingFILMporg - Most of Gunn's decisions are proof that a good director isn't a good businessman. I personally believe that Gunn's universe is going to begin and end with Superman Legacy, so we won't have to worry about Muschietti getting his hands on Batman. Muschietti is the kind of director you give your C or D list characters to, not your A+ character.

@Th3Batman - I personally wouldn’t give him anything

@Th3Batman - Why? Gunn hasnt made a movie i didnt like yet, I trust his vision, Andy gave us IT 1 & 2, and this time he has James Gunn with him and no enterferance from the heads of the old DC. I trust they'll do great!

@AliX -

It 2 was awful and made significantly less than the first because it sucked💁

@AliX - Superman Legacy will be a good movie, I have no doubt about that. However, the DC brand has been so damaged over the past decade that it's very unlikely going to make the $$$ it'll need for him to continue his vision.

It was a cringe scene made even worse by all the controversy surrounding the actor playing Flash.

The imagination of this scene is HELLISH. This is what you cooked up in your head…

So many other possibilities

And then there's this:

@Moriakum - I prefer Makkari’s speed scenes out of all of the speedsters in cinema. Her vs Icarus is a better fight scene between Superman and the flash than what justice league did. Quicksilver from X-men was cool but that was beyond god speed and didn’t make sense that he wouldn’t be used to solve all the X-men’s problems.

@slickrickdesigns - I also prefer Makkari’s speed scene because there’s no corny, overused slow-mow. But Quicksilver’s scenes still look cool, unlike Flash’s.

@Moriakum - nothing in the Flash’s 2 hour runtime was as cool as the two big Quicksilver sequences in DoFP and Apocypse.

@Moriakum - I’ll actually say this but the scene in Zack’s Justice League where the Flash saved the citizens from the falling debris was better than what they did in his own movie.

We get it Andy...you intended for the CGI to be bad....

Th3Batman
Th3Batman - 8/14/2023, 4:11 PM
@Forthas - No one would be talking about the CGI anymore if he just told the truth about what happened: Rgey ran out of time and/or money to complete it. If he didn't want to throw the studio under the bus, a simple "it looked good on paper" would have worked.

I saw movie I didn’t need director to break down baby scene I knew what he was going for by watching not fan of movie as I said when pushed to your limits small options how are you suppose that many people at once , Batman maybe differently, Wonder Woman and Superman slightly different what flash will have done all you have is super speed you need adapt think of other ways save people it’s how you save them not how they look while doing it , how would Spider-Man do this if it was him web few babies but others have do differently

You lost me after you referred to it as “the great Ezra Miller”. Dude knows he doesn’t have to kiss butt anymore. The movie failed.

I liked that scene! Bad cgi sure but it was a pretty cool display of his powers. Thats an aspect i loved about the movie, wide display of Flash powers (speed, phasing, time travel, charge blast)

I finally realized who the Flash’s mask in this movie reminded me of. The weird shape of it looks kinda like a red version of the Dragonfly. 🤣

The star of your movie is a person that has been arrested many times and has been accused of grooming underaged children.
How do you rehabilitate his image?

Have a scene where he sticks a baby in microwave.

Brilliant!
