Yesterday, The Flash star Sasha Calle shared a photo of her new hairstyle, and fans immediately started questioning what that could mean for her role as Supergirl in the DC Comics adaptation.

We're bound to get an official first look at the character before the movie is released on November 4, 2022, but Calle has now returned to Twitter to share a very cool piece of fan-art. As you can see, it imagines the Girl of Steel with that shorter hairstyle, and it's definitely a look that works well.

Filming is currently underway on The Flash in the UK, so Calle's new look is almost certainly for the DC Comics adaptation. There is precedent in the source material for Supergirl to rock a shorter hairstyle, though this is definitely reminiscent of the Cir-El version of the iconic character.

She wore a black costume and blue cape, and was originally introduced as the alleged daughter of Superman. Later, it was revealed that Cir-El was a human girl genetically altered by the villain Brainiac to appear Kryptonian. Just because The Flash's Supergirl has the same hairstyle, it doesn't mean any of that backstory will be used in the movie, and we're expecting to see Calle play Kara Zor-El.

Check out this awesome fan-art imagining The Flash's take on Supergirl below:

If it's Cir-El i'm gonna f*cking lose it, hopefully because of synergy bs, she'll come back in the comics as well!

@Doomsday8888 - Not impossible idea at all, considering we just have had so much Kara Zor-El on the tv side. Good opportunity to explore the other incarnation of character. And her time traveling background could fit nicely into the movies narrative.

@Doomsday8888 - In Hodson's script she's a female Kal-El (similar to the Earth 11 version in the comics). She's the last survivor of the planet Krypton and the only Superperson on Earth.

The dark hair makes me hope that she's Superman's daughter and not Kara. But Barry is supposed to be blond too and look how that turned out so...

Anyway, if that's her look in the end... not bad at all.

@BritishMonkey - Are people actually saying that? Is Stevie Wonder leading the charge?

I woulda so much preferred Nic Cage as Superman.

But she looks super cool. If only they could change the script so she can be Superman's daughter instead of a gender-flipped version of him.

I can dig it. Black with a blue cape that isn't 10ft long is still an option, and while it would be sticking close to an adaptation, I hope they don't go there.

I think that now it’s clear she won’t be the main DCEU Supergirl but the Supergirl of another universe.

As long as the blue in the suit is really blue, I don't really care about the rest of her look.

@blitzkreg - from what I remember Kryptonian women (in the Snyderverse) don't wear pants.

Now, they do wear full length robes, but everyone does on Krypton.
