Lucifer will return for its fifth and final season next year and now it looks like his farewell tour just got a whole lot bigger as Netflix has increased the episode order from ten hours to sixteen!

The fifth and final season of the fan-favorite Lucifer just got a whole lot bigger as Netflix has officially upped the episode count from ten hours to sixteen, which will make it the third-longest season the show has ever produced.

The new season has yet to begin filming, so it'll probably still be a few months before the streaming giant announces a premiere date, but if the timeline for last season is anything to go by, then fans should probably expect another May debut for all sixteen installments.

Considering the fourth season ended on a major cliffhanger as Lucifer (Tom Ellis) returned to rule Hell - just moments after Chloe (Lauren German) finally told him how she felt - it's probably safe to assume the final season will pick up shortly thereafter as Lucifer's old friends presumably look for a way to bring him back to the land of the living.

excited, this is a fun show, sad to see it end, but hopefully the extra 6 episodes give it a good ending and send off.

There's a Sandman show on the horizon, and hopefully someone with more IQ than fingers figures out the necessity to get Tom Ellis in on that.

Good, I felt the last season was unusually rushed for me. It felt like every next episode weeks had gone by from the last and I didn't like that. Ranking seasons for me is 2,1,3,4. 3 felt like it has too much filler but it felt way more cohesive and I really liked Charlotte. Also the baby in season 4 really didn't work as a storyline for me, Eve was fantastic though.

@KingPatel - Is it based on a comic book? I honestly don't know.
