TV Line learned late yesterday that Netflix has renewed Lucifer for a fifth and final season, presumably set to air sometime in 2020. An episode count has not yet been confirmed.

Co-showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich have released the following statement, expressing their excitement. “We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms. Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!

Following the eagerly-awaited news, stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, and Lesley-Ann Brandt shared instant reaction videos with a catchy new tagline: "See you in Hell."

I like this show. Probably because I've never read a Lucifer comic.

The new season on Netflix was okay, I just wish they would move away from the "serialized crime procedural"

Kinda sucks they renewed it just to end it after the latest Season. Two more for the fans would have sufficed.

Hopefully they give their fandom a hell of a last ride.

@tmp3 - Makes sense. He's directing The Rock in Disney's Jungle Cruise. I enjoyed Collet-Serra's Liam Neeson films (for what they were).

The latest season of Lucifer was probably the best... the switch to Netflix was a great thing... disappointed that we’re only getting one more season.. highly unlikely it’ll get saved by DCU ... but never say never ... it’s the only other place I see it ending up on ...if it’s truly the end .. here’s hoping they go big...

@MuadDib - No way it gets put on DCU.

Best news I’ve heard all week.
I’m thinking it’s time to finally pull the Jesus card.
Unbelievably I don’t think they’ve even mentioned him once.
Now that it’s coming to a graceful end rather then just ending with the carpet being pulled out from underneath them ([frick] you, FOX) nows the time to pull out all the stops.

I havent watched since the first season. Did they ever start adapting any of the stories from the comic?
