The DC Universe has confirmed their upcoming Swamp Thing series has added Andy Bean (Power; It: Chapter Two) and Derek Mears (Friday the 13th; The Flash; Sleepy Hollow) in series regular roles. Bean will play the biologist-turned-monster Alec Holland while Mears will portray the titular beast.

Holland's official description reads, "Passionate biologist Alec Holland is caught in the crosshairs of a small town nightmare when he discovers a bizarre local illness may be connected to his work in the swamp. Holland's discovery leads him into conflict with dark forces, from which he emerges as the elemental hero known as Swamp Thing." Meanwhile, Swamp Thing's official description reads, "Emerging from the swamp with a monstrous physique and strange new powers over plant life, the man who was once Alec Holland struggles to hold onto his humanity. When dark forces converge on the town of Marais, Swamp Thing must embrace what he has become in order to defend the town as well as the natural world at large."

The pair join a cast that will also feature Crystal Reed (Gotham) as Abby Arcane, Maria Sten (Straight Outta Compton) as Liz Tremayne, Jennifer Beals (The Last Tycoon) as Sheriff Lucilia Cable, Jeryl Prescott (The Walking Dead) as Madame Xanadu, Academy Award-nominee Virginia Madsen (Elementary) as Maria Sunderland, and Will Patton (Halloween) as the villainous Avery Sunderland.

James Wan (Aquaman) is serving as an executive producer on Swamp Thing along with Mark Verheiden (Daredevil), Gary Dauberman (It), Michael Clear (The Nun), and Len Wiseman (Underworld). Wiseman is also set to direct the pilot, which was written by Verheiden and Dauberman.

Bean was great in Power, one of the best shows on TV (even though it lost a bit of steam over the seasons, as many shows do).

I dig it.
I'd dig even more if we had a Constantine tv series...with Dr.Fate...and Zatanna.

Am i asking too much? :P

@Doomsday8888 - Already had one, they would not risk it too easily. It sucks we have not got zatanna in nearly anything yet.

Can't get someone better than Mr. Bean for the lead role? Fail.
