More photos from the set of Daredevil: Born Again have found their way online, and a prop newspaper has debunked a big rumour about where's we'll find the Kingpin of Crime when the series kicks off...

Cameras are once again rolling on Daredevil: Born Again in New York City and, following confirmation that both Foggy Nelson and Karen Page are returning to the MCU, we have an intriguing update on Wilson Fisk.

In the closing moments of Echo, we learned of his apparent desire to run for New York City Mayor. Since then, it's been widely reported that he'll have already taken office by the time this Daredevil follow-up begins. However, a prop spotted on set has seemingly debunked those claims.

As you'll see in the X post below, the Kingpin of Crime has simply emerged as a likely favourite heading into the polls. The article refers to the villain as an entrepreneur and makes no mention of his criminal history or the fact he's spent tome behind bars!

Fisk is even quoted as saying, "I believe in a New York that not only thrives economically but also leads the charge in sustainable development and equitable opportunities for all." He makes for an effective politician, clearly!

A first look at the show's villain, Muse, has also been revealed. It's believed a stand-in was used for this scene and, unfortunately, we don't get to see whether he's wearing the same costume as the serial killer's comic book counterpart.

Marvel Studios made the decision to creatively overhaul Daredevil: Born Again last year. So far, the decision appears to have been the right one, something that's evident from the return of Netflix characters this series was previously going to either ignore or dispose of in ways sure to upset longtime fans of 'ol Hornhead.

The cast of the series includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk.

Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michael Gaston, Arty Froushan, and Clark Johnson have all been cast in undisclosed roles and, as part of this creative overhaul, we now also expect to see Wilson Bethel suit up as Bullseye.

Daredevil: Born Again will likely premiere on Disney+ in 2025/2026.

@bobevanz -

Filming has started yesterday and they already have some stuff from before the strikes.

The first half is going to hit D+ in 2025 guaranteed.

Remember this is a tv series, not a movie.

Kingpin overtaking Kang as the overarching MCU villain right before our eyes

@FireandBlood - He can't, not for the films, Sony holds majority rights to him such that without side deals with them Disney only have unrestricted use in Daredevil related stuff (including Echo) plus an unclear clause where he can interact with characters he appeared with prior to 2011. Outside of those contract exceptions it gets complicated fast and probably why they made Hawkeye's show revolve around Echo's origin story to solidify their ability to use him otherwise he wouldn't have been able to cross paths with Kate Bishop at all.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 1/27/2024, 9:38 AM
@Apophis71 - Sony never held any exclusive rights to Kingpin, he was always shared with Fox like Scarlet Witch, and Fox let the rights revert back to Disney even before acquisition, least you forget this

Apophis71
Apophis71 - 1/27/2024, 9:40 AM
@FireandBlood - Nope, was packaged with Spider-man too hence Sony using him in the first Spiderverse film, is a complicated one but as stated the one clear exception to the deal where Sony held majority rights to him was always Daredevil comics related, outside of that Sony has majority say on how/where he can be used by Disney.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 1/27/2024, 9:45 AM
@Apophis71 - Except they don’t, because Disney’s using him everywhere. He’s been the main villain in 2 Disney+ shows now, and one upcoming. Sony have no more say over how Disney use Kingpin than Fox did over Quicksilver, because he’s also package with Daredevil and Disney hold those rights.

@FireandBlood - He can run for President in the future, imagine!
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 1/27/2024, 10:11 AM
@FireandBlood - All shows/films he has been used in are Daredevil stories, as in Echo origin story which was a 90's DD one with and direct pre-2011 connection between Fisk and Maya Lopez, and DD's show itself. If Sony didn't hold rights to him explain how/why he was the main villain in the Spiderverse film.

I can pull up the legal documents if you want but clearly stated that Sony has majority decisions/rights just with some exceptions that are only clear and concise in relation to Daredevil stories and a less clear one on who else he can appear with. As he had been up against Clint before 2011 and the story was about the death of Echo's father from a Daredevil comic it was one of those exceptions as is him appearing in his adoptive daughters show. He CANNOT just randomly appear in for instance a Ms. Marvel episode/film when she wasn't even created before 2011, they pushed it as far as the contracts permit well into the grey area on Hawkeye (which Sony could have stepped in and used their veto power on otherwise) by the story they chose otherwise wouldn't have been able to have a scene with Kate Bishop for similar reasons why he wasn't in Ms. Marvel's show.

The second he steps into any films, Sony will pull up the legal rights and demand a share of the box office unless it is specificaly a Daredevil related one and obviously also gets a BO share if it is a Spider-man one otherwise they have veto powers.

FireandBlood - 1/27/2024, 10:15 AM
@Apophis71 - Sony don’t hold exclusive rights to Kingpin, it’s a shared deal, like Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch was between Fox/Marvel, due to him also being a Daredevil character. And just like Marvel used Scarlet Witch in a Captain America film, Marvel can use Kingpin wherever they want too, hence why he was the villain in a totally unrelated Daredevil project like Hawkeye.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 1/27/2024, 10:27 AM
@FireandBlood - Literaly just explained all of that, there are explicit exceptions but only related to Daredevil not anything and everything so no, it is NOT like the QS/WV one in the legal documents at all, but also obviously neither have EXCLUSIVE rights either, it is complicated but not fully shared either in the same way the twins were. The Hawkeye show was NOT unrelated as they use an adaption of a Daredevil story for it and including Echo in it and Kingpin and Barton crossed paths pre-2011 so a compilation of exception clauses utilised to prevent the Sony veto power.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 1/27/2024, 10:30 AM
@Apophis71 - Okay, whatever you say, man. Clearly you’re privy to info the rest of us ain’t.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 1/27/2024, 10:36 AM
@FireandBlood - Keep in mind Kingpin first appeared in Spider-man comics hence why although there are exceptions majority rights of Sony trump any Disney have unless they carefully use exception clauses to avoid the Sony veto powers and/or having to negotiate sidedeals for him. Sony is the only one with full freedom of use him how they see fit within anything Spider-man property related, a lot more complicated and a lot more restrictions how and where Disney can use him.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 1/27/2024, 10:42 AM
@FireandBlood - The hack of Sony means the full legal documents are online so more clear where things stand with him and other complicated ones than they were with the Fox deal. For instance Disney owns the rights to the character Jessica Drew but cannot have her suited up as Spider-Woman and vice verse for Sony meaning neither can fully use her hence why for the second Spiderverse they used a black Jess Drew not the original one and never showed her out of her spider-woman outfit.
