We found out earlier on tonight that this upcoming third season of FX's Legion would be the last, but it looks like the excellent series intends to go out with a bang.

The character's appearance has been teased repeatedly over the course of the first two seasons, but when the show returns in June we'll finally be introduced to a new small-screen incarnation of Professor Charles Xavier.

Showrunner Noah Hawley has announced that former Game of Thrones actor Harry Lloyd will play Professor X, while Danish Mr. Robot actress Stephanie Corneliussen will also appear as David Haller's mother, Gabrielle.

What do you guys think about this casting news? Are you disappointed that Legion is ending? Sound off down below.

To bad this is set in the 70's considering both will probably end, it would have been nice to see a crossover between Legion and Gifted

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - Havent actually seen it in a while, so what is it like Gotham/Batman the animated series, with a classic style but modern tech

Beauty of knowing you are ending is you can pretty much do whatever you want.
Legion is getting Professor X
Gotham is getting The Joker

This has to be flashbacks right? The guy is way too young to be Prof X in the present. Still, he's great in the little stuff I've seen him in. Gloriously hammy in Doctor Who (it's justified in-story):

This show is pretty trippy, and it's definitely trying to be. I catch myself once an episode on average thinking "Wtf just happened?" Even though it's overall interesting, I'm fine with getting only one more season. Also, this show takes place in the 70s? How did I not notice that?

@ImmovableForce - And now I'm just realizing that Legion is essentially an X-Men show if envisioned by French New Wave-obsessed hippies and beatniks.

my pick was john hawkes back during the speculative days of this casting, but i trust hawley made the right choice. i’m convinced he can do no wrong at this point. can’t wait. let’s hope this third season proves doubters of this show’s status as the best comic adaptation wrong.

Why not Patrick Stewart or James McAvoy?

I mean its not like anyones following the X-men timeline anymore, but you'd think that they'd at least attempt to tie it in.
