There's been speculation that the Loki finale will directly lead into the events of Deadpool 3 and/or Avengers: Secret Wars, and based on Tom Hiddleston's reaction, we'd say it's highly likely

The season 2 finale of Loki is now streaming on Disney+, and the events of the episode marked a major shift for the God of Mischief that will likely have significant ramifications for the MCU going forward.

In "Glorious Purpose," Loki realizes that attempting to save Victor Timely and succeeding in expanding the rings of the Temporal Loom is pointless, because, as Sylvie points out, as soon as the timelines started branching, "this was doomed to happen." He then decides to go back and see if he can prevent Sylvie from killing He Who Remains at the End of Time, but this comes with an all new set of problems.

The Kang Variant explains that his death was never going to stick, anyway, because he had put a failsafe in place to ensure that the additional timelines will always branch in order to keep the Sacred Timeline intact. Without him there to oversee things, there will be a devastating war between the different realities (a Secret War, perhaps?).

Loki ultimately decides not to kill Sylvie, and instead travels back to the Loom and uses his magic to gather all the loose timelines together, essentially transforming into a version of the World Tree from Norse mythology. There, the new "God of Stories" must sit for eternity(?) to ensure that his friends and everyone else can live in peace on the various timelines.

Is this the end of Loki's story? Doubtful!

Tom Hiddleston was a guest on the Jimmy Fallon show, and gave a very interesting response when asked if the season finale would lead directly into Deadpool 3 and/or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Loki may not appear in Deadpool 3 himself, but the TVA are rumored to play a big part in the story, and we would put money on the character showing up in either The Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars.

Loki season 2 "promises new excitement as it thrusts the infamous God of Mischief into a new set of adventures with the TVA."

The series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, Ke Huy Quan and Owen Wilson.

Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw and Kasra Farahani will direct all six episodes.

The head writer is Eric Martin. Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Kevin R. Wright, Tom Hiddleston, Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Eric Martin and Michael Waldron are the executive producers, with Trevor Waterson serving as co-executive producer.

All six episodes of Loki season 2 are now streaming on Disney+.

I guess when Steve Rogers decided to stay in 1949 it couldn’t have triggered a branch or he would have been pruned. That means there were two Steve Rogers the whole time.

@elcapitan - or it just didn't matter to HWR. There was a timeline where Sylvie grew up to a certain age before her timeline got pruned.

Either that, or the MCU was the branch timeline to begin with.

Does he even know what is coming later? I feel like he would have no idea or even care if he isn’t attached to the project.

I feel like this is grasping at straws.

@EZBeast - he probably doesn't know indeed. Bet they haven't even figured it out at Marvel Studios yet. There might be a skeleton of a story, but not yet what character is gonna have what role (if any)

Just finished the last episode of s2. Not really paying attention to this show. How did Loki gain these powers to time travel endlessly, revive branches and basically be the guardian of the multiverse?

@vectorsigma - think they said because Sylvie used HWR's special TemPad to create the door she kicked Loli through. It's a very flimsy explanation really

@bkmeijer1 - thanks for this. I think it is a lousy reason, that is why i didnt get it i guess

@vectorsigma - it's mentioned really quickly as well, and not even as confirmation. Just a bit of speculation on the character's part

Nobody is a Mark Ruffalo or Tom Holland. Tom Hiddleston is keeping the secret he’s supposed to keep. He knows something, you can’t tell me they built that big set and as they were finishing up Loki season 2, Deadpool was starting and Loki and the rest of the cast were there to film Deadpool 3.

So you think they filmed Loki S2, finished filming went home and closed up shop and then came back later to do one or two scenes? Haha, yeah okay. Why wouldn’t you do that when you have everyone already there on set for Loki S2?

That's more dodgy than normally the answers to these types of questions are. But yeah, ofcourse it sets up multiverse-related movies. Thanks to Loki, those alternate timelines can now cross-over with The Sacred Timeline.

Also, if HWR' plan for the timeline was as watertight as he wants us to believe, why did he need Victor Timely? The Loom would've exploded just the same without Timely. If anything, HWR only doomed himself because it pushed Loki to take his throne instead.

As confused as i am with this show, imagine the general audience feeling the same headed into DP3.
