Episode 4 of Disney/Lucasfilm's latest live-action Star Wars series, Ahsoka, is now streaming on Disney+, and "Fallen Jedi" left us with a lot to discuss, including what has been perceived by some as an underwhelming reveal for the mysterious masked Inquisitor known as Marrok.

If you haven't watched the episode yet, major spoilers follow.

Ever since the character first appeared on-screen, there's been rampant speculation about his true identity, with the most popular theory pointing to him being unveiled as Star Wars Rebels' Ezra Bridger, who was transported to an uncharted galaxy with Grand Admiral Thrawn in the series finale of the animated show.

There were several other theories, including Starkiller, Barriss Offee, and Mace Windu (yes, really), but it's probably fair to say hardly anyone expected Marrok to be a random, faceless Inquisitor - though they probably should have.

During Ahsoka's lightsaber battle with the villain, she slashes him across the mid-section, and he succumbs to his wound after a cloud of dark green smoke bursts forth from his armor (possibly implying that he was resurrected by Morgan Elsbeth).

While many will no doubt be disappointed by this development, it really shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

At this stage, we've seen fans make numerous assumptions about certain characters and scenarios in various different TV shows (remember how certain everyone was that Mephisto had to be behind the spooky goings-on in WandaVision?), and when they turn out to be wrong, some react like the series in question failed to deliver on something that was never actually teased in the first place.

While Disney+ and Lucasfilm were no doubt delighted by the extra attention generated by the Marrok speculation, we were never really given any indication that he was going to be anything other than a minor antagonist to add some excitement to the action sequences before being dispatched by one of the heroes.

How did you feel about the Marrok reveal? Were you disappointed? Drop us a comment down below.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

The series stars Rosario Dawson in the title role, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, with Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Kevin Kiner was announced as the series' composer.

Ahoska is written by executive producer Dave Filoni, alongside executive producers Favreau, Kennedy, Wilson, and Beck. Gilchrist is co-executive producer. The series’ directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel and Rick Famuyiwa.

I think people learned from Mephisto when it came to letting their mind run rampant with unsubstantiated theories

I think it’s more of the YouTubers and article content creators trying to force the speculations more than the fans of the shows. They need the clicks so they make up bs just like all the rumor news for every cbm in development.

@slickrickdesigns - New Rockstars are huuuge on making up scenarios. I like Eric Voss, but some of his theories about shows/movies be so wild

This is why they do it. Want to get people talking about your show? Leave a mystery there. A masked Inquisitor who sounds like Starkiller. Could be Ezra? Who knows? It'll get people coming back next week for answers.

@DarthOmega - they should’ve just made him somebody from Star Wars lore. They would’ve only upset half the audience instead of all of them.

While I knew it would never happen but I was hoping he’d turn out to be a clone of Luke and that Mara Jade would have been introduced and the real Luke, Han, Leia and company would show up in the final episode leading into the Heir To The Empire movie meaning the original characters would be involved like the novel.
But making him a Ren And Stimpy fart is cool I guess. 🤷‍♂️

@AnthonyVonGeek - nah I have no interest in more uncanny valley luke. Either recast or leave him alone

@Taonrey - I wouldn’t complain if they cast Sebastian Stan as Luke.

@AnthonyVonGeek - Can we please stop posting that Photoshop blend of Sebastian & Hammill, it's not real. He certainly shares features and could play him, but that picture is not 100% Sebastian, it's deceptively a blend of the two of them.

@AnthonyVonGeek - I love Stan but he's too old now, Luke is in his mid to late 20s

@Taonrey - that’s what digital artist and make up are for. They can erase and hide the wrinkles. 😉👍

@AnthonyVonGeek - lol in that case u might as well continue with the stand in deep fake and ai voice. How about we just cast a younger unknown who doesn't need to be digitally de-aged(which always looks weird by the way). Now I know for some that's a little old school but it worked for decades before the industry got CGI obsessed

Basically just another case of fans making up bogus, unsubstantiated theories that make absolutely no sense whatsoever, and then getting disappointed when they're inevitably proven wrong.

Blah.

Sick of too many Star War shows after enduring the last super sh!tty trilogy. And we are going to get more movies based on the last sh!tty trilogy lousy characters.

Mickey the Rat has killed star Wars.

I find it funny that every time an Inquisitor or someone uses a stupid spinning inquisitor light saber they usually die quickly or are disarmed quickly.

There is absolutely no threat to one of those.

@TyrantBossMedia - It's not about it being threatening. It's about confusing the opponent into making a mistake.
