THE MANDALORIAN Season 3 Won't Debut Until Late 2022; THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT Viewed As "Season 2.5"

We have some big updates on plans for The Mandalorian's upcoming third season, how work on Obi-Wan Kenobi is progressing, and the way The Book of Boba Fett ties into Din Djarin's series. Check it out...

There's a lot of speculation about what the plan is for The Mandalorian's third season, especially after star Pedro Pascal recently revealed he hasn't started shooting the next batch of episodes yet.

Now, though, Collider has shared an update on plans for that series, The Book of Boba Fett, and even Obi-Wan Kenobi. In the case of the latter, production is well underway, and is expected to take "many months." That means the Los Angeles stages used for The Mandalorian are being taken up by Ewan McGregor's return as the Jedi Master, hence why cameras haven't started rolling yet.

As a result, work on The Mandalorian season three isn't expected to begin until late this year or perhaps early next. That means the show is likely to return to its October/November slot on Disney+ in 2022.

The Book of Boba Fett was using those stages before Obi-Wan Kenobi, and we can't help but wonder if it might be time for Disney and Lucasfilm to build-upon them as this slate of TV shows expands.

The site adds, "The Book of Boba Fett will be a more closely-linked spinoff as well and sources have told us to think of the series as "The Mandalorian Season 2.5," with characters from The Mandalorian slated to appear in the series." That's definitely interesting, and a sign that this spinoff will be key in following the story that's playing out as Lucasfilm explores this Galaxy post-Return of the Jedi.

Hopefully, it won't be too much longer until the curtain is pulled back on The Book of Boba Fett...
