I have a feeling that American Gods might just be the next Game of Thrones. Especially with Bryan Fuller and David Slade running things.

@Kr08 - Well, for one season, anyway. Can't imagine them extending it beyond that (or it being any good after they get to the book's awesome conclusion).

@Kr08 - Definitely agree, but I don't see it running as long, obviously (7 books vs. 1) Still cool. Is it just me, or does Mad Sweeny kinda look like Shamus from the WWE? They could have cast him, but I guess Pornstache will do the trick too.

@Nosebleed @Spock0Clock - That's true about 1 book compared to 7, but Bryan Fuller managed to take Red Dragon and turn it into 3 seasons of the greatest show ever with Hannibal.

And he has Neil Gaiman working with the show closely, so we can see more than there actually was in the book. Gaiman created Vulcan, the god of molten metal just for the show. He's an Old God that adapted with the times and became the god of guns and weapons, which makes him incredibly powerful.

@Spock0Clock - The first season just covers everything up to The House on the Rock, he doesn't even get to Lakeside this season.

@Kr08 - If Gaiman has some notebooks of ideas for a sequel he never got around to or something, then sure, I'm all for it getting adapted to TV.

I would be afraid of them dragging the one book out too much, though, or just continuing the show because it's popular without a solid idea for what to do with it. (Assuming it is popular. Game of Thrones took a few seasons to get as big as it is now.)

@soberchimera - It's been way too long since I've read it to remember what those names mean. But fingers crossed they get the pacing right (and don't get canceled too soon).

So... about a third of the book in a season, then... Hmmm... Well, I hope/trust Gaiman has given them good material to fill it out a bit. I really enjoyed the book when I read it, but it wasn't the kind of "I'll remember the details of this forever" for me like Dune was. I'm hoping that means I'll get to enjoy rediscovering the stuff I've forgotten about it in the show itself.
