The highly-anticipated season finale of The Last of Us airs this Sunday, and HBO has now shared a series of new promo stills for "Look for the Light."

Mild spoilers follow.

If you've played the Naughty Dog video game, you should be familiar with some of the scenes these images are teasing (yes, there will be a giraffe!), but the episode opens with an all-new sequence that hasn't been adapted from the game.

Ashley Johnson, who provides the voice of Ellie in the games, plays the character's mother in the show. We see her giving birth under very stressful circumstances, before...

We won't say any more, but star Bella Ramsey believes viewers are going to find the episode in question "massively divisive."

“It was… exhausting,” she tells Vogue of filming last week's intense penultimate hour. "But those were some of my favourite days on set. That sounds really masochistic, but it’s the scenes that break me that I love the most, in a way.” As for what she thinks people will make of the finale? “It’s going to divide people massively – massively.”

Check out the stills below, and let us know how you think things are going to play out.

The Last of Us is set 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed and centers on the relationship between Joel, a smuggler in this new world, and Ellie, a teenager who may be key to a cure for a deadly pandemic. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle the 14-year-old girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and the game's creator Neil Druckmann wrote and exec produced the show.

@Superheromoviefan - Then prepare yourself. Because this will definitely divide fans as it will be a segway into the next season.

I've known about this for awhile.

All I can say to you all is be prepared.

@RorMachine do you feel that way as well? And can we get a discussion thread after the finale please?

@MyCoolYoung - No... I assume she's referring to viewers that haven't played the game, in which case I suppose it could be very divisive.

@RorMachine - think so too. The show does a lot of things that aren't the usual for tv shows, but to the gamers it's nothing new.

If they follow the game I dont see it being that divisive. But maybe they made some changes to tease the next season or give us a cliffhanger.

@ReverseFlasher - I remember the ending of the gaming being pretty massively divisive back then and to this day, with the sequel furthering the argument: whether one character was "right" in a certain action and reasoning.

@JoeInTheBox - yeah I know its divisive on a large level, I just feel like youre meant to side with the characters that make that decision after the experiences you/they go through

@ReverseFlasher - I think that's a big reason where the divisiveness comes form. Whether or not you're supposed to root for any of them. They all have their very real human emotions and motivations. It's every easy to empathize with the choice they make. However, they kill hundreds to do so. Does that make it right? It's been the question gamers have been flooding message boards for over a decade now.

I think Bella is referring to that. I don't believe Mazin and Druckmann will do a big swerve and change the ending. Minor changes sure, but I think Bella is referring to the same divisive events of the first game, playing out on the show. We shall see though.

For the show only viewers, this will be THE water cooler talk for weeks. I'm excited, also the voice actor for Ellie has such an interesting role for this episode. I'm hyped af

Bella is a good actress I give her that but she still doesn't scream Ellie to me, she looks like tom Holland with long hair

So "screaming Ellie" to you is entirely based on a physical look? Isn't that a bit one-dimensional? 🤨

None of the actors look exactly like their game counterparts but they ARE doing everything that those characters have done or would do. That's essentially who the character is.

Bella is Ellie in a sense that she's portraying her exactly as she's written expertly. If you understand and appreciate who Ellie is, then you should have no problem at all with Bella's portrayal.

@BeNice123 - I had my doubts at first, but I honestly have no idea how anyone could still think that after watching the show.

Think it's only gonna be divisive to those that haven't played the game.

It's kinda like the last episode, where it is kinda new to have Ellie solve the situation herself instead of Joel coming in last minute. To the gamers, it's nothing new though.

Hope the finale does something wildly different from the game though.

Seems like they are adapting the game's ending, which will be divisive for people who didnt play it...
