2018 is set to be a big year for the Tomb Raider franchise as we're getting both a movie starring Alicia Vikander and an announcement in regards to a new video game! That's made official in the Tweet below and it sounds like there won't be long to wait between the unveiling and when the title hits stores. That means it could be with us as soon as 2019 but the question is, who will play the next Lara?

It's feasible that the game has been developed in conjunction with the movie and Vikander will be taking on the role. That would be an exciting and unexpected direction to take things in but we'll see.

The past few instalments of the franchise have been a lot of fun and among the best action/adventure
titles you can find on consoles in recent years. Where would you like the next Tomb Raider game to go? Be sure to share your thoughts on that and this news in the comments section.

I feel like a new game and a new movie are both not needed.

@Supercat6376 - I haven't played Rise of the Tomb Raider yet, but the first game in this rebooted series was very good. A third game to complete a trilogy is welcome. As for the movie, I'm more meh on that. Doesn't look like a good adaptation of the game based on the first teaser.

@Supercat6376 - I want a 3rd game but the movie doesn’t look very good tbh

@Ha1frican - the trailer I saw in the theatre got no one excited.

@BIGBMH - I think most of the people on this site could do without the movie

@Supercat6376 - Did you even play the last 2 Tomb Raider games? Because I thought they were some of the best action adventure games I’ve ever played. Do u just not like that style of game?

@Beatnodx - you know what to be fair I’ve only played it a handful of times when I️ can get on my sons ps4 lol but the movie really does look awful.

@BIGBMH - Really? Because the trailer looked like it was TOO accurate to the game. Some of the scenes were copy/pasted pixel by pixel, as it were.

@GAThrawnIGF - IMO, it copies it, but in a way that doesn't really capture the spirit of the game. I elaborate on why I feel that way here.

I hope it’s a continuation of the last two, but with a fresh direction as stated here. Loved Rise, but it did ultimately feel like more of the same.

I hope this won’t be a fun tie-in.

“It's feasible that the game has been developed in conjunction with the movie and Vikander will be taking on the role.” Umm not really no. We’ve know this game has been in development for a while bc it leaked not long after the second game was released on Xbox One 2 years ago, it’s more than likely it’s just the 3rd in the trilogy and not related to the movie at all

Awesome. I hope it's still Camilla Luddington.

As long as there's not a year long wait between the Xbox One and PS4 release; I'm on board. The other two were great.

@xAdam - I play most my games on Xbox bc I like having it hooked up to my tv. But that was so stupid.

I'm sure it got leaked over a year ago, an employee working on the game had the title and font up on his laptop while he was working on the train during his commute, somebody took a snap.

'Shadow of the Tomb Raider' I think it was called.

What?

Not to be a selfish a-hole, but The Avengers Project was announced way before, and we still know nothing.

Then Squenix announces a Tomb Raider sequel. Aren't the Tomb Raider and Deus Ex developers working on Avengers?
