Cabin Fever director Eli Roth's adaptation of Gearbox Software and 2K's Borderlands video game commenced production last month, and following the official logo reveal, star Jamie Lee Curtis (Dr. Tannis) has taken to social media to share a new behind-the-scenes shot of Cate Blanchett as Lilith.

Although the image is fully silhouetted, you can tell that the Thor: Ragnarok actress is sporting the character's signature hairstyle and seems to be wearing a similar outfit, though it's obviously hard to tell for sure.

Blanchett and Curtis join Jack Black (School of Rock, King Kong) as the voice for Claptrap (or, CL4P-TP) the robot, Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) as Roland, Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity War) as Tiny Tina, Edgar Ramirez (Jungle Cruise) as Atlas, and Florian Munteanu (Creed) as Krieg.

Borderlands is a somewhat bizarre and very violent first-person, loot-based shooter which focuses on four “Vault Hunters” fending off local marauders while searching for advanced alien tech on a planet called Pandora. There have been three games released so far, and all have done very well.

Check out the official synopsis below.

“In the movie Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Ramirez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland (Hart), a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently wiseass robot. These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.”

This big-screen take is being developed at Lionsgate and will work off a script from Chernobyl screenwriter Craig Mazin. Roth will also produce along with Avi and Ari Arad through their Arad Productions banner.

Wow, that silhouette actually looks like a videogame character. Never played Borderlands (except for a bit of the first one.)

@xfan320 - same. And same first impression basically.

Looks cool and the premise sounds interesting. I wanna know and see more.

This is like Mad Max in space, right?

I just googled the character and the silhouette looks a lot like the character. I wonder if it's blacked out cuz the costume is altered. I'm assuming less cleavage. Does she have glowing tattoos at some point?

@ElricReturns - More or less. Tonally it's a more of a satire of those genres. Plot-wise it's like a space Raiders of the Lost Ark, with multiple characters and factions hunting/chasing "vaults" left behind by an ancient alien race.

@ElricReturns - Since Roth categorized it as a BTS shot, I want to say they are still doing camera, wardrobe and lighting tests and haven't locked down a final design yet, hence being in shadow. But the silhouette is definitely Lilith.

Per her powers, she does get glowing symbols on/around her body.

Avi Arad is involved with this shit? Pass

@Saga - Seriously. The guy ruins pretty much anything he's involved in. He was the absolute worst parts about the older Marvel movies and was responsible for the Venom abomination in Raimi's Spider-man 3. He always tries to shoehorn his shitty ideas into other people's films. Loathe the guy.

I don’t think people who didn’t play the game will understand that the more CRAZY and ridiculous this is, the happier fans of the game will be.

This movie needs to be like Mad Max: Fury Road, on steroids.

damn, just from that silhouette alone I can tell this character has a lot of personality.

Wasn't expecting the choice for Lilith given the character's age in the games, but Blanchett is talented enough that I'm sure she'll be good in the role.

As a big fan of the videogames......I am wildly intrigued and HOPE TO GOD they for once stay faithful to the series.

This simple silhouette is intriguing.
