It's okay to hate Singer and his X-Men

Just say it to Hugh Jackmans face when he's shirtless.

Fox has only two bad X-Men movies. X-Men, X2 and First Class are amazing. First Class is the best but, I think The Wolverine will further rejuvenate this franchise that was nearly killed in my opinon with two movies. This is my must see CBM of the summer.

As others are saying, this might just be the definitive Wolvie flick. 'Bout damn time. Such a missed opportunity with Origins-- IMO, they should have just adapted Barry Windsor-Smith's Weapon X.

@DanteSparda

That's a good point. Origins was a one-mutant narrative but they felt the need to include a great deal of side characters, probably because the X-men movies had so many. But the X-men movies were ensemble movies with each character getting his due. Not so for Origins.

Hugh Jackman would probably high five you for saying Bryan Singer's X-men films suck. The best one was X2 which focused on Wolvie's past. Hugh Jackman had tons of more input in this movie and was given so many more liberties while playing Wolverine this time around. I'm sure it's safe to say this is the most satisfied Hugh has been with this character since X2.

Have a seat Wolverine and watch the master work.

Five gets you ten that Wolverine cries in this movie.
He cried in all three X-Men movies and in the first Wolverine.

FOX only had 1 bad "X" flick (Wolverine 4), cause X3 is still the best out of the original trilogy. Most of yall didn't like it cause corny ass Cyclops got "Killed" in it.

Cyclops has only just recently gotten cool in the comics (starting with the Phoenix power story).

I really wonder how this will do seeing given how big set pieces are usually expected in current CBMs.

TASM didn't have much but had the CGI Lizard and webslinging.
Avengers had ...well the Avengers and the Battle of NY
TDKR had the quake machine and The Bat vs Tumblers chase
Iron Man 3 had Iron Men (imagine the back up arrival scene with sentinels instead of armors)
MOS looks crazy
Thor is also bound to be visually impressive

Will people take to superheroics on a smaller scale? I hope so because the world can only be saved so many times before it's boring, right?
RyKnow
RyKnow - 6/6/2013, 4:53 AM
@ breakUbatman -
TASM was pretty cool, if a tad emo.
Avengers had a Saturday morning TV programme script, and some of the worst acting I've seen.
A Quake Machine in TDKR??? When?? Must have missed that entire section.
Iron Man 3 was an abysmal start to the so called "Phase 2".
Man of Steel looks "OK".
Thor 2 looks visually impressive but it could also be superficial with a rubbish script (like Iron Man 3).
I ain't having a go there mate, just comparing notes :-)

I think The Wolverine is something the CBM genre is in dire need of, it looks like a good character piece with some impressive stuntwork and sounds like it has quite a complex story. Yeah, it ain't gonna be a carbon copy of the comic, but James Mangold has more talent than simply using the "source material" as his storyboards, and I'm looking forward to his own personal take on this agressive anti-hero.

I really wish that they would get away from the jeans and wife beater look for Wolverine. Its like so lame. Why cant they figure out how to make the costume work. I was really hoping they put him in the costume this movie I mean he is fighting ninjas...they are dressed up. I hope they do cause its not like people wont except that from the character. He is a super hero. I wonder if its Jackman who wont put the costume on. Im getting real sick of it. And those X-Men costumes sucked monkey balls so none of that sh*t either. Come on Fox get with it.

RyKnow
RyKnow - 6/7/2013, 5:38 AM
@ breakUbatman - I just meant TASM had a less melodramatic feel to it then the previous trilogy. As decent as those flicks were, I got sick of listening to endless droning monologues that had silly meanings. Ya reckon TASM2 will improve on the first one though? Hopefully so :-)

@ ELgUaSoN - There was nothing philosophical about The Avengers. At All. It's a very basic story structure, very much the same structure as junk like Independence Day, which itself had the same bland Saturday morning feel to it. Because of that I thought Avengers was a monumental anti-climax for the 4 years of excellent build up Marvel put into it. I left the cinema feeling empty, not feeling like I'd watched a philosophical masterpiece. I can tell by your Red Foreman picture you strongly disagree with me and idolize Joss Whedon and all of his works (if that's an adequate term) but I really couldn't care any less. Also, calling somebody a dumbass because they have a different view to you is quite immature and childlike. And if you're trying to draw me into some kind of Avengers/Batman debate you're wasting you're time. Jog on.
