Mannnn.
It really sucks to be a realistic pessimist who is secretly an optimist.

There's been too much smoke around Batman Beyond for there not to be some kind of fire. I definitely believe that a Batman Beyond project was in some form of development since Keaton was cast in the Flash back in 2020 (or was it 2019 ?), I just don't think anyone knows the exact details about it. I think a Beyond live action movie should be set in its own unique universe though, as that will allow the filmmaker to write whatever history he wants for its Bruce Wayne and not be limited to what Burton did.

Could have easily done an Elsworld Batman Beyond film with Keaton back as Batman that could have acted as the third part to the Burton films (Hell bring back Burton to direct), but they wanted to have there cake and eat it too and now we're left with the disappointing reminder of what could have been which is the Flash film.

I still hope Batman beyond happens in some way. Whether live action with Keaton or animated to compete with Spiderverse, it needs to make a comeback.

@MCUKnight11 - I think an animated project is far more likely than live action. Whether it's a theatrical film like spider-verse or direct to home video like the various DC animated movies remains to be seen.

Clearly, James Gunn was never a fan of Keaton doing more Batman.

Kevin Smith said he was misquoted when he mentioned Christian Bale being asked to come back for The Flash!? He wasn’t misquoted, he literally said those words on his Farman Beyond podcast.

Imo any movie with Keaton returning to play Batman would be welcome. Especially if it had Pfeiffer back too.
However, Batman Beyond seems an odd choice. To me it's too futureristic and sci-fi for the characters and that universe.

I'd rather just have Burton return and do an actual sequel to Batman Returns.
The Flash has just proved that Keaton is still enough Batman to hold a movie, so there's no need for Terry McGinnis.
Bring back Burton and Pfeiffer and throw in appearances from Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face and Kim Basinger as Vicki Vale and you have a great foundation to build a movie on.

@ChrisRed - "The Flash has just proved that Keaton is still enough Batman to hold a movie"

If anything, the movie proved that he can't hold a movie, as it's completely failing at the box office. With that said, I do believe that a proper 3rd Burton movie can work, and will bring in a lot of $$$.

@Th3Batman - You can't blame Keaton for The Flash's failing.
If there's anything most people agree on, it's that Keaton is the best part of the movie.
The movie proved that Keaton still got what it takes

@ChrisRed - The issue wasn't the quality of Keaton's acting, but rather his inability to get people to go out and buy tickets. That's not to say it's entirely his fault, as this brand has been taking damage way before he got involved with it. However, he should've been able to attract more people.

@Th3Batman - We can't know how much worse The Flash's ticket sales would have been without Keaton.
The Flash always had the odds stacked against it. Way to many issues surrounding it. I doubt any one actor could have saved it.

@ChrisRed - I think how much worse is anyone's guess, but I have no doubt that it indeed would've made less without Keaton.

I think this is just an errant game of telephone.

If the Christian Bale thing is from the latest Fatman Beyond, well I saw that and I don't remember him saying that DC Studios asked Bale to do The Flash and Bale turned them down. I think he mentioned Bale not wanting to return, but that's just common knowledge, not a specific scoop that he was giving us about The Flash.

And as far as the Batman Beyond thing goes: I don't know anything, but when he said all that I thought to myself, "I think he's misheard or misunderstood whoever told him that". Because he was saying that DC Studios was going to do a Batman Beyond if The Flash was successful. It's already common knowledge that Warner Bros Pictures was planning to do a Batman Beyond movie after Batgirl, so maybe that's what David Uslan was actually saying and Kevin Smith misunderstood him.

Easy mistake, but there is an important distinction between Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios.
