The Predator's Opening Weekend Numbers Are In

Though The Predator did manage to come out on top this weekend at the NA box office, Shane Black's film launched with a rather tepid $24 million, which is being viewed as a disappointing bow for 20th Century Fox's revival of the sci-fi action franchise.

Overseas, the movie earned $30.7 million for a global start of $54.7 million.

It's possible that the mostly negative critical reaction contributed to this mediocre opening - although the controversy stemming from Black hiring a registered sex offender for a scene with Olivia Munn doesn't seem to have had much of an impact.

Unused Mantis Design For GOTG Vol. 2

Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park has shared an unused character design for Mantis (Pom Klementieff) that was actually approved for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 before being changed at the last minute.

As you can see, this take on the character was a lot more insect-like, with raised yellow skin and cockroach antennae.

Though he couldn't get into any details, he did add that the sequel would "tell an exciting story, deepening these characters."

In related news (well, it's really more of a rumor for now) SuperBroMovies has heard that Suicide Squad 2 will be "a grounded, black ops style film that could find its way to an R rating." A portion of the movie is also expected to take place in the Middle East.

A YouTuber has put together a video which counts down the kills notched up by Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) in the Avengers movies. Spoiler: it's a lot.

Time to up your game, Black Widow.

Another rumor here, but one that does gel with some of the things we have heard Warner Bros. is planning for the new Supergirl movie.

The Predator was alright. The cast was good espically the crazy soldiers. The films plot is insane but it's a movie about aliens who kill for sport so eh. The Cgi was awful straight up PS2 cutscene graphics. That ending is cool but it felt like Shane Black was like hey I did Iron Man 3 remember?. I'd give it a 5/10.

@Subtlespammer24 - In my effort to not be mean, I'm still trying to figure out if she just can't act or if she's been given bad material in everything I've seen her in (which admittedly isn't a lot).

I have no interest whatsoever in a Suicide Squad sequel. The first one is easily one of the worst comic book films I ever saw. It was pure crap. Only a radical overhaul of the concept and its characters could make me consider the possibility of seeing SS2.

I just can't take these rumours about a Supergirl film seriously. They make WB seem even more stupid than usual. The future of the cinematic DCU depends on the aftermath of Aquaman, Shazam and WW84.
