It's been a very busy week for news here on ComicBookMovie.com, and while there are pretty much no new releases coming out in 2020, we've still seen a lot of big movie and TV show updates shared by Marvel, DC Entertainment, and more. In fact, it's felt like business as usual in Hollywood, though much of that can be credited to Disney and those huge Investor Day announcements.

As for the other big stories this week, there's a tonne of new details about Spider-Man 3 to delve into, story details about Ben Affleck's scrapped The Batman, and a whole lot more besides (including the conclusion of WarnerMedia's investigation into what happened on the set of Justice League).

10. Jaimie Alexander Is Finally Returning As Sif

While Jaimie Alexander did reprise the role of Sif in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., fans haven't seen the character on the big screen since Thor: The Dark World. However, that's all set to chance with the Asgardian's return not just in theaters, but on television as soon as next year as well.

It was revealed this week that Alexander is set to play Sif in Loki and Thor: Love and Thunder. How her absence all these years will be handled remains to be seen, but this is amazing news.

9. Warner Bros. Is Determined To Make Wonder Woman 3 A Reality

Wonder Woman 1984 is the first Warner Bros. film to head to HBO Max the same day it arrives in theaters, and the studio is reportedly paying director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot a reported $10 million to make up for what they'll lose from their back-end deals on what the movie would have made at the box office. Why? Well, it's because they want a Wonder Woman 3.

Keeping the duo happy is a must if they want that to become a reality, but with Jenkins heading to the Star Wars Universe for Rogue Squadron, we're going to be waiting a while either way.

8. Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus Return Is Officially Happening

There were rumours this might happen, but Spider-Man 2 star Alfred Molina is officially returning as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 3, a move that ties Spidey's three franchises together.

There's no word on what sort of role Doc Ock will play in proceedings. We also don't know whether this is the same version of the character from that 2004 movie or if the actor is playing a new take on him. The latter seems likely based on J.K. Simmons' return at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, but there's clearly enough evidence now to suggest we really are visiting the "Spider-Verse."

7. Superman & Lois' New Super Suit Revealed

The CW has finally revealed Tyler Hoechlin's super suit in all its glory, it honestly doesn't look that different to the one worn by Henry Cavill in the DC Extended Universe movie. However, that iconic logo stands out a little more, which is something comic book fans are sure to appreciate.

There's also a very pronounced belt that instantly brings back memories of Superman's appearance during "The New 52" era of storytelling. As expected, the red pants are M.I.A., and it seems they are going to remain absent in live-action projects featuring the character for the time being.

6. Wonder Woman 1984 WILL Have A Post-Credits Scene

We got to watch Wonder Woman 1984 earlier this week, and it's fair to say that those early reactions - while a little over-the-top to some extent - definitely weren't too far off the mark!

There was no post-credits with the press screener, but there will be one on HBO Max/in theaters. "Let that be something to save for the audience," director Patty Jenkins explained in a recent interview. "Just because, God forbid, somebody writes about it, you’re like, ‘Well, then what fun was it? Now we should have just attached it to the end of the movie!’"

5. WarnerMedia's Justice League Investigation Concludes

Well, that was underwhelming! After a very public battle between Warner Bros.' parent company WarnerMedia and Justice League star Ray Fisher about his allegations about the behaviour of Joss Whedon, Geoff Johns, and Jon Berg on the set of the DC Comics movie, that's now concluded.

Unfortunately, no details have been revealed about what happened, and we instead have only a statement that reads, "WarnerMedia’s investigation into the Justice League movie has concluded and remedial action has been taken." There's no word on what that even means.

4. A Comic Book Expansion Of Zack Snyder's Justice League

Comic book writer Scott Snyder (known for his work on titles like Batman and Dark Nights: Metal) has revealed he was asked to work on an adaptation and "expansion" of Zack Snyder's Justice League.

While he didn't go into specifics, Snyder admitted that he had to turn the project down, adding: "I had a lot of jobs ahead of me and I can’t deal with people confusing us anymore." We don't know if this is still happening, but expanding this world with a comic book series makes perfect sense.

3. Story Details On Ben Affleck's "Really Dark" Take On The Batman

Justice League star Joe Manganiello has finally shared some story details for Ben Affleck's The Batman (which he's obviously no longer writing or directing as Matt Reeves continues working on his take), revealing that it had similarities to David Fincher's 1997 thriller, The Game.

"It was a really dark story in which Deathstroke was like a shark or a horror movie villain that was dismantling Bruce’s life from the inside out," the actor revealed. "It was this systemic thing: He killed everyone close to Bruce and destroyed his life to try and make him suffer because he felt that Bruce was responsible for something that happened to him."

2. Charlie Cox Is Set To Return As Daredevil In Spider-Man 3

One of the most welcome news stories of the week, we're hoping and praying this actually pans out.

It's been reported that Charlie Cox will return as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, in Spider-Man 3, a movie that's shaping up to be one of the biggest Marvel Studios movies yet. This is said to have been "set in stone for several months now," and common sense says Matt will be Peter Parker's lawyer.

1. Spider-Man 3 Adds Tobey Maguire, Emma Stone, And More

By far the biggest Spider-Man 3 update we've had to date, it's been reported by reliable sources that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will both reprise their respective roles as the web-slinger.

Emma Stone is said to be coming back as Gwen Stacy, while Kirsten Dunst is also set to return as Mary Jane Watson. If true, we really are going to be heading into the "Spider-Verse" in this movie.

This week has been like the best Top news from this horrible year.

We got Spider-Man OG cast and Star Wars and MCU updates.

Strange thing is, I'm more excited about the SW series than Armor Wars or Secret Invasion.

Still, can't wait for them all.
