It's almost time for The Witcher to introduce a new White Wolf... though we're not sure how welcome he'll be!

The first volume of the third season of the fantasy adventure series is now streaming on Netflix, and episode 5 concludes with a promo teasing Volume 2, which is set to premiere on July 27.

Though the footage doesn't spoil anything outright, it does give us some idea of what to expect from these final season 3 episodes, as it looks like Geralt (Henry Cavill), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan) will be forced to part ways yet again.

These next five episodes will mark Cavill's swansong as the titular monster hunter, with Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) set to take over from season 4 onward. We've been told that the show won't simply switch actors without explanation, and a storyline reason for Geralt's new face will be given.

We're still not sure exactly how this will be accomplished, but it's probably safe to assume that magic will be involved. Does this teaser drop any hints? Have a look and see what you think!

As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.

The Witcher season 3 also stars Joey Batey as Jaskier, Eamon Farren as Cahir, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Mimî M. Khayisa as Fringilla, Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold, Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Tom Canton as Filavandrel, Mecia Simson as Francesca Findabair, Wilson Mbomio as Dara, Jeremy Crawford as Yarpin Zigrin, Terence Maynard as Artorius, Lars Mikkelson as Stregobor, Therica Wilson Readas Sabrina, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Cassie Clare as Philippa Eilhart, Liz Carr as Fenn, Simon Callow as Codringher, Ed Birch as King Vizimir, Kaine Zajaz as Gage, Bart Edwards as Emhyr, Sam Woolf as Rience and Graham McTavish as Dijkstra

When is Highlander with Henry Cavill supposed to come out? There is too little news about that.

Season 1 was not good. Never watched more than that.

I heard season 2 was worse, and this season is the worst yet.

Why can’t we get more quality fantasy adaptations? It seems like House of the Dragon is the only great one going today.

Here’s hoping Best Served Cold from the First Law series is done well. Also hoping we hear more about what Brandon Sanderson has in talks with Hollywood soon.

Critics seem to have a blind spot with this show... because I have never actually spoken to anyone who rates it. I gave up halfway through S2. Dreck.

@MarkCassidy

I don't think any of the seasons have glowing reviews. I haven't watched it but the highest rated season on metacritic has a 70 (lowest has a 54). And that's not very high for TV.

Let's face it, the narrative in games is rarely good but The Witcher games were leagues ahead of this crap. You know it's not going to be good when the writers themselves mock the source material.

Okay, to be fair, I was not a big fan of the first 2 seasons, and I would put the show down IF it deserved it, but Season 3 is BY FAR the BEST. SEASON. YET. Not even close.

The character's and actors actually feel like their dialogue is being delivered by REAL PEOPLE now - I don't know if Henry Cavill had anything to do with the writer's cracking down on the material, but EVERYBODY feels like they're acting with intent and purpose now. As if every scene is now driving towards some bigger agenda and not just an utter slog and/or completely forgettable (s1 and s2)

I actually care about these people.

Maybe that's because it's starting to catch up to Witcher 3 (the game) and I'm just becoming more engaged because I'm familiar with the source material now, but honestly, I don't think that's it. It feels almost like a different show to me now, I can't explain it. 🤔

@xfan320 - also, it's a far easier season to comprehend in terms of storytelling.

Every other season had been overly convoluted or chocked full of exposition. I can't even remember season 2, like, AT ALL. And I know I watched it, I think I even tried a rewatch once. Season 3 is a breeze to watch and enjoy.

Long story short, people like Henry Cavill. You’ll lose audience just from letting him go. Not many Liam Hemsworth fans or should I say there aren’t any Liam Hemsworth fans out there and no one will watch the Witcher just because Liam is part of it. Cavill may be a pain for writers but the dude has good input that would make fans happy, so why not take constructive criticism and make things better by working together?

I guess i'm in the vast minority as i like this season. it's easy to follow and i know exactly what is going on. S1 was the best but hardest to follow. S2 was mehh. HOWEVER, i have never played the game or read the books so i can see where alot of hate is probably coming from. I DO love Henry as the witcher and i will stop watching when he's done as Liam is an Awful actor.

I thought it seemed pretty obvious that they will make the switch after he gets his ass stomped by **********, which is the event this season seems to be leading towards.
