Work on The Witcher season 4 is expected to begin any day now and, when the series returns to Netflix, Liam Hemsworth will take over the role of Geralt of Rivia from Man of Steel star Henry Cavill.

Despite rumours to the contrary, the show's third batch of episodes didn't offer so much as a single hint about how the witcher's face will change and instead wrapped up on something of an open-ended note. As a result, many fans are expecting a simple recasting with no explanation (which, despite hints to the contrary, would make the most sense).

Even when The Witcher's creative decisions let him down, Cavill still delivered what plenty of people felt was a pitch-perfect take on the sword-wielding hero. With that in mind, Hemsworth has big boots to fill.

He recently shared a new workout photo (via SFFGazette.com), making it clear the younger brother of Avengers: Endgame star Chris Hemsworth has been putting in some serious time at the gym to portray a suitably formidable and imposing version of Geralt.

This comes after Netflix recently announced that The Witcher has added Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart, James Purefoy as Skellen, and Danny Woodburn as Zoltan. They join Hemsworth, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey and Laurence Fishburne.

After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire - and finding one another again.

The Witcher executive producer Tomek Bagiński talked last year about Geralt's popularity and shared his belief that the character has reached a point where he can be recast similar to the likes of Batman and James Bond.

"Henry was a fantastic Geralt, but in the history of pop culture we have many actors who played the same character, and the character itself changed. I am most pleased that the series was created and became so popular. The Witcher has already reached the level of Batman, Superman and James Bond. Maybe we hoped to see him in a new version only in a few years, but it happened now. And that's nothing new for iconic pop culture heroes."

And I have heard he is a fan of the games atleast though idk if that’s true or not…

Anyway , I know this take is divisive to say the least but how has the show been (only seen S1 and thought it was ok)?.

Hemsworth has big shoes to follow since I thought Cavill did well in the role and fit the character which i can’t say for Liam thus far but we’ll see.

Also Sharlto Copley , James Purefoy and especially Laurence Fishburne joining the cast is nuts , how did I miss that?.

12 years ago he was starting with The Hunger Games and 10 years ago exactly his character started getting more screentime in Mockingjay Part I, now he is gonna lead his own show with The Witcher. How much things can change.

I'm wishing him the best with the material he'll be given. Because physically the fruits of his effort are paying off.

And yeah, Land of Bad was a good action film.
