As someone who’s wife got ovarian cancer in her 30’s, it’s just crazy how many younger people are being diagnosed these days vs the past. Maybe it’s better testing. But it sure seems like something in our environment/diet/etc is making this more common than in the past.

Best of luck to her in her continued recovery.

@mountainman - I wouldn't be surprised, hard to have enough data to know what the impact is yet. We definitely found out the issues with lead, asbestos and certain pesticides so I am sure it us a matter of time before we find out something new has been killing us all long.

Definitely wish her the best in her recovery and anyone else that might be experiencing a similar hardship.

I hope your wife is doing well now

mountainman - 3/13/2024, 3:18 PM
@Evansly - Thank you. She just had her annual tests and nothing is reappearing. But the tests will likely last her lifetime.

But all the microplastics and chemicals in our food and water supply certainly aren’t helping the situation.

@mountainman - I've lost a couple of friends way too young to Cancer, including one friend who had what it sounds like Munn caught in time. No doubt that all of the innovations of the 19th and 20th Centuries, coupled with the massive push toward deregulation that's been ongoing in the US since the early 80s, is finally catching up to us. We've all likely ingested more chemicals in our lifetimes than our forebears by an order of magnitude. It's only a matter of time before we have to pay the piper.

thedrudo - 3/13/2024, 3:31 PM
@mountainman - I'm sure there are outside factors maybe causing more cases but I think more data means more numbers for us to look at. And like you said, better testing catching more cases early. Scary stuff.

@ClintThaHamster - Overall government regulations of industries are at their highest levels ever. Have you ever tried looking at how many laws and regulations exist?

The problem is that the government allows it. They don’t care. In fact, they are likely complicit in a way.

As with most everything, the problem originates with the dang government.

@DarthOmega - She’s great now. It was a scary year for sure with surgery and chemo.

My dad fortunately beat prostate cancer, but my material grandfather died from it before I was born. Have an Aunt that died from stomach cancer too.

That disease has impacted all of us in some way.
clintthahamster
clintthahamster - 3/13/2024, 4:17 PM
@mountainman - I don't see eliminating environmental regulations as having a positive impact on "all the microplastics and chemicals in our food and water supply." Do you think the industries will police themselves? It's worked great with Boeing . . .
clintthahamster
clintthahamster - 3/13/2024, 4:26 PM
@mountainman - I agree with your assessment that lax enforcement are as much an issue as deregulation, FWIW.
mountainman
mountainman - 3/13/2024, 5:03 PM
@ClintThaHamster - The airline industry is quite regulated. I’m not suggesting that it is run smoothly, but just sharing that writing rules down doesn’t by definition improve things. Either way, too in depth of a convo for here, but let’s just agree that there certainly is a problem with unhealthy things being consumed in our food and water, and since the systems in place do not protect us adequately, it’s really our individual responsibility to be conscious of what we consume.
clintthahamster
clintthahamster - 3/14/2024, 7:45 AM
@mountainman - We can absolutely agree that there is a problem with existing regulations not being enforced properly.

I have followed her since her G4 days so I’m glad to hear that she’s on the mend…

I haven’t followed her acting career much but the parts I have seen her portray have been fine imo , she’s done as well as she could with the material she had (Psylocke was pretty much a glorified henchwoman in Apocalypse but she captured the physicality of the character).

Anyway , I recently saw that she was cast alongside Jon Hamm for an Apple TV+ show from the creator of Banshee & Warrior so she seems to be making a comeback professionally aswell after this so good for her!!.

[frick] Cancer!!.

Wishing her a full recovery and best wishes.

BTW Josh: "Morgan Le Fay was NOT dreamed up by writer Stan Lee and artist Joe Maneely".

Morgan Le Fay is a pre-existing character from Arthurian mythological fiction that goes back thousands of years. Borrowed by Stan-the-Man and Joe Maneely.

You're welcome.
